Experience is if OL has trouble blocking you can't run

Personal experience playing HS football as RB. Don't know all technical ins/outs of OL blocking, only knew if they couldn't block I didn't have much of a chance running. I'm concerned.

We have Trevor Freaking Lawrence as our qb. I dont care if we have the three stooges for receivers, we can do better than screen left, screen right. I watch all kinds of trash teams fling the ball all over the field on Saturdays. What we saw out of our offense Saturday (and other Saturdays this fall if we are being honest) was hard to watch. Spare me all the "on pace to be most prolific offense in our history" nonsense Plyer was spewing this morning either.

OL's inability to control LOS for 4 quarters, safeties getting exposed in coverage, and Spiers shanking 7 yard punts while we have a former 5* from IMG waiting behind him all concern me.

I obviously don't have the benefit of watching practice...

but if Aidan Swanson isn't as good as if not better than Spiers, the Clemson kicking game is in serious trouble. I have watched his recruiting videos and he was consistently punting the ball 50+ yards. Plus, he's a lefty so punt returners have to field a ball that spins the opposite direction. I'm going to really miss Potter's KOs and may even cry a little when he graduates.

I think he is better but the reality of the situation is that he's a redshirt freshman and Spiers is a 5th year senior (4-year starter) and close with the Swinneys.

Drew Swinney is pretty "close with the Swinneys" and he never sees the field.
That is the dumbest argument out there for why Spiers is Clemson's punter.
Spiers is better than Swanson and you have seen it when Swanson get a chance to punt.
You can also see it when they are warming up together.
Swanson's 50 yard punters that people mention in high school had about 2 seconds of hang time. Spiers gets the ball high (most of the time) even when the kicks are not 50 yarders. It's better to have no return on a 43 yarder than to outkick your coverage on a 50 yard punt.

"and you have seen it when Swanson gets a chance to punt"
What do you mean? He has only had 3 opportunities all year and boomed his last one 50 yards.

You're trying way too hard. This has nothing to do with them... it's about Spiers, our 5th year punter who rattled off three consecutive punts of 33, 7, and 32 yards last weekend.

Copying and pasting cherry-picked stats from his official bio is nice, but I'm worried about 33, 7, and 32... especially after seeing the ramifications of his 32-yarder in the 2nd half of the CFP title game that LSU received at their own 43 (they scored on that drive, their only score of the 4th quarter), or his 36-yarder that went to LSU's 32 the quarter prior (they scored on that drive, their only score of the 3rd quarter).
So he had two bad punts in the 2nd half of that game, resulting in the two best starting field positions of the entire game for LSU and two eventual TDs. Plenty of other issues in that game, but we lost the field position battle down the stretch and they capitalized, as good teams do.

Do you armchair coaches actually think that our coaches don’t watch Swenson kick in practice? If he were better, he would be our punter..

Swanson IS better, but the Spiers family is very close with the Swinneys and Will has been the starter since '17 so they're going to ride it out.

34 yards in 33 attempts with an NFL caliber running back. ND by at least 14 points.

we do a lot of RPO. I think that hurts the ability to line up and push them back when you need to. We end up with too many 2nd and 8's when ETN carries on first down

We saw the problem illustrated when Walker Parks was 10 yards downfield on the TD Pass reception.
Still, I think we are better off with heavy RPO with Trevor making the call than to abandon it in favor of committing to try to mash people on designed ETN runs.

I don't know about you but when I played RB the coaches put letters on the lineman's a.s.s. so the QB would say, on 2 Right or left HB, your ball, go between a and b.This for Rb's that can't understand blocking schemes and pulling guards. Lol.

They only seem to have problems blocking UP THE MIDDLE.

Edge runs and toss sweeps seem to work pretty well.
Oline problems are magnified recently, as due to all the wideout injuries, teams are stacking more against the run, they aren't believing we have a home run hitter on the outside right now. And, judging by the decreasing shots downfield, they must be on to something.
