Why isn't PI and/or Holding reviewable or challengeable?

I know it could slow the game down, but maybe limit it to a coaches challenge so when it's truly questionable, it at least gets a second look.... We've all seen many PI calls that changed the outcome of a game. As well as many holds that never get called for an entire game. This needs to be corrected.

Just sayin'

Agree. I think all penalties/potential penalties should be challengeable with a coaches challenge. We definitely don't want to get to the point where the booth is calling a review on every play, but it would be beneficial IMO for coaches to have that ability on any play they choose, especially since their challenges are limited.

It sounds like (potentially) a great idea

But they tried in the NFL, and nothing changed. Coaches were reluctant to use their challenge and when they did almost nothing was reverse (or called when it wasn't).

I understand your frustration, but games are closing in on 4 hours now, do you want them to be 5 hours?

because it is like argueing balls and strikes. If you do it goes on forever. I already dislike the number of rep[lays and delays on obvious stuff the refs should have seen.

My son shoots video for football at App St. And has worked a few Panthers games this season. jFrom ust what he's seen from the sideline you could call holding on EVERY play. EVERY play. What I saw from last night, those are the occasions when it should have been called. When the player is stretching (ripping maybe?) the jersey....It's holding. When a defender hits the ground? Ref has to determine on the spot if he just went down or was forced down (tackled). That would be a judgement call. Other than that, it's the ref's discretion. They could legitimately call it every snap. Players are even coached how to "hold" without getting caught. Challenging or even reviewing these would accomplish nothing.

I agree with you, nearly every play. However, I think a playoff or championship game, there should be more discretion. Maybe add another ref, whatever it takes. What I hated about last night was it was called that absolutely affected the outcome.

But you wouldn't review a "no call"

I'm only suggesting we should be able to challenge holding calls, not no calls.

I had a friend that was a very-experienced HS and small college game ref in NC. He told me that holding was the hardest call to make, because most plays have multiple holdings. So holding calls need to be reserved for the most-aggregious holdings -- or the games would become terrible to play and watch.
Hence, holding calls on large plays are more likely than calls on small plays.

(But the blatant holding on Xavier Thomas on the long FSU pass play, as Travis scrambled toward the sideline, just b4 the half... I won't soon forget.)
