we are running down their throat 8-10 yards at a time do we decide to throw a lateral pass to T E who fumbles to Cuse. Leads to their second td

We got problems with play calling and the Offensive line is same as usual.

Make them stop that before you pass. Of course that’s old school football.

Probably figured it would go for a big gain, with Syr focused on between the tackles runs. But alas it was not to be.

Cuse had every one up. If you gonna throw go downfield. They were all over TE. Riley is not a Lane Kiffin.

Riley ain't Kiffin because Dabo is meddling with the play calling.

Even worse, next set of downs we throw another sideways pass that fortunately is ruled a forward pass as it was picked up and returned for another score. Totally ridiculous throwing to the sidelines anyway, we did not want to go out of bounds to stop the clock. These coordinators need to get their heads out of their derriere's. They need to coach and teach. Why is Gunn not being handled better. With all are previous successful kickers couldn't they invite one back to give some pointers.

Guess that was the only play on Dabo's Waffle House Menu that did not have a red line drawn through it already??

Those trickery reverses we have been doing down inside the 5 yard line annd losing yardage are definitely Dabo’s calls. TCU rarely if ever ran those in that situation last year. Coaches know it is hard for Dabo to keep his hands off the offense so I am sure they are looking for those calls down in the Red Zone

Interesting you should say that, re: Dabo being involved. I noticed during timeouts vs. SYR that Dabo was taking charge of the conversations in every sideline huddle. The OC & the DC just stopped talking when Dabo jumped in. I guess that is his prerogative to do so since he is the HC, but it seemed like he was trying to run all phases of the game and left his Coordinators speechless. Also noticed him giving Defensive signals a couple of times. Very interesting. Quite the contrast since every time the cameras panned to Dino Babers, he was stoic, closed-mouthed and just listening to all his coaches on the headphones. Whatever works, I guess.

Would you have even conceived this question without the fumble? Was it a bad call or simply a good hit that separated Briningstool from the ball?

Ikr, we need an OC who creates successful plays every time!

I can’t believe we hired the most coveted young OC in the game, and we don’t score TDs every possession, and even worse not every play works.
Gonna quote deroberts here, “where do they find you goobers?”

I always find these narratives funny

"We were running it down their throat 8-10 yards at a time..."
The actual PBP on that drive was:
-Pass to Mafah for -2 -Pass to Brown for 18 -Shipley run for 9 -Shipley run for 17 -Pass to Briningstool, fumble
So two good runs suddenly constitutes "running it down their throat for 8-10 yards at a time." Maybe it's just me, but I would probably want to see more than two successful run plays in a row before I deemed it "running it down their throat."
Especially given that, up to that point, we only had two runs by RBs go for more than 5 yards all game, and our previous running plays in the 2nd half went for 2, 3, 0, -5, 2, and 3 yards. That's 6 runs for a grand total of 5 yards.
But after getting a whopping two successful run plays in a row, the OC is an idiot for calling a pass, when the passing game had really been the only thing working all game prior to those two plays.
And I'm sure if we had handed it off to Shipley there again and lost a yard, everyone would've been bitching about that too.
