Who gets in? TCU, OSU, and Baylor all have legit arguments

Dec 6, 2014, 11:21 PM

for that 4th spot...

Art Briles just said it best...

"If we race and you win... you're faster than me. We beat them on the field, we're the better team".

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

Baylor should get in.

Big12 is a better conference than Big10, so Ohio state is out.

Although I do think that TCU is a more complete team, bc their defense is better than Baylors, it really doesn't matter, bc Baylor won the head to head. IMO

I think Baylor should be in as well, but how

Dec 6, 2014, 11:31 PM

would the committee justify having tcu above fsu one week and then out completely the next?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"Because at the end of the game, everyone knew that they weren’t that much better than us or better than us at all."

They won't, committee will keep TCU in.

Dec 6, 2014, 11:33 PM

They are weighing the margin of victory in common opponents more than the head to head.

so West Virginia has a shot?***

They are better than VT.

The argument is going to be that Baylor won that game at

Dec 6, 2014, 11:31 PM [ in reply to Art Briles just said it best... ]

home by only 3 points, the standard home field advantage spread, thus casting a pall on the head-to-head.

My gut tells me that since everybody won this weekend, they'll simply stick with the rankings they put out last week in and call it a day.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

They won the game.

Dec 6, 2014, 11:33 PM

Honestly, to try and argue that they have a better loss when you are trying to pick between them and the team which beat them is crazy logic.

I agree, but that didn't stop the committee from ranking

Dec 6, 2014, 11:40 PM [ in reply to They won the game. ]

TCU a full 3 spots higher in the prior week's poll. I just can't see each of those teams winning tonight and flipping that much.

Ohio State lost at home to Va. Tech by a fair margin, and Va. Tech stunk it up this season - by far the worst loss of any team in consideration.

I wouldn't be surprised if your last statement proves true:

Dec 6, 2014, 11:43 PM [ in reply to The argument is going to be that Baylor won that game at ]

they'll stick with what they had with Bama facing FSU, and Oregon playing TCU.

Of course, Baylor and Ohio State will scream bloody murder.

We all knew somebody was going to scream bloody

Dec 6, 2014, 11:50 PM

murder following the committee's selections regardless. It's not going to be pretty no matter who it is.

Problem for Art is his team got nlown out by an unranked team, winning close at home vs TCU is not losing to #5 away, and the K State margin of victory by TCU/Baylor also goes to the Horned Frogs, 21>11.

And no, Herbie, Ohio St lost to VT, the BIG 10 was crap outside of conference.
