Do YOU read the posts you comment on. I did not say Biden is explicitly for defunding the Pentagon, although one could legitimately conclude that seeing as how National Defense IS NOT IN HIS PLATFORM.
However, what I am referring to is the increasing number of Democrats having and voicing the idea/opinion to reduce the DoD budget. Thus, voting Biden in obviously gives more power to the Dems and to those who want to reduce the DoD budget.
Clearly, that is a fact - more Dems are saying that now then ever. As an employee at a defense firm, the defense community acknowledges this as a risk...
You guys just do not get it. An inch here, an inch there.
Example: No one could have mentioned supporting socialism 10-15 years ago and been elected to ANY position. Now we almost had a major party POTUS candidate who is an admitted socialist.

"If you vote for Biden, you are enabling the “fundamental transformation” of our military to regress to have no global presence or influence."
That's an absurd and ridiculous jump to a conclusion based on this woman's statements.
Does he have a record of voting against defense spending?
Do you know he's already said he doesn't plan defense cuts?

Lobbyists cannot control the top-line budget figures. They can (and do), however, influence where the budgeted funding goes.
It is not a business without its own warts for sure. Term limits would go a long way to fix a lot of things wrong with our system.

NC,
You DO understand that the Supreme Court has ruled term limits unconstitutional, don't you ??

Once again showing your lack of critical thought. First, the Pentagon isn't getting defunded no matter what this random person says. And it doesn't mean Biden will either (he won't).
Look, I understand you Trumpies are desperate. You know it's over, so you make up all sorts of "OMG scary things gonna happen!" posts. It doesn't make a difference. No one is undecided on this board.
The Pentagon definitely needs a good audit, and some wasteful military spending needs to be cut, though.
Also, don't conservatives oppose global overreach and trying to police the world?

Man, talk about no critical thought.
Of course this ONE person is not going to defund the Pentagon. And by defund that means reduce funding, not zero it out. Of course, no one with credibility is suggesting to zero the DoD budget out.
However, given where we are today and given Biden's lack of interest in National Defense and the growing voices on the left wanting to defund (reduce) the DoD budget, funding will indeed be reduced from where it is today under a Biden administration. That's probably true even if Pubs hold the senate. There is no doubt about that by anyone in the business.
The Pentagon's problem is similar to the rest of the Federal gov't - it is a huge bureaucracy that is inherently inefficient and will always, always be that way. At least the DoD makes jets, bombs, and guns that work and will win wars if needed. The DoD is one of the higher performing gov't departments.
Good question on global policing...it is a hard balance to strike. As a country founded on freedom and human rights, some believe we (USA) have an obligation to prevent, for example, mass ethnic cleansing and horror like that around the globe. There are still plenty of bad guys in control of countries that can (and might) do very bad things to us and to others. Someone (the USA at this point) needs to check those bad guys.
If we recede back to our own borders and back to pre WWI and WWII isolationist thinking, it will soon catch up to us. Even more so today since economies are more connected globally.

Biden isn't cutting military spending. He has a track record of voting to increase it. He isn't going to "defund the Pentagon". In fact, he's talked about increasing spending if elected. Your claim was an absurd one and you got called on it. Just own up to it.
He's not defunding police, either.

Catahoula
"With Americans grappling personally with the effects of the coronavirus on their daily lives, Democrats argue that cutting the defense budget to fund domestic needs has become a mainstream policy."
"Sanders, the top Democrat on the Senate Budget Committee, has long championed cuts for the military, but he believes the argument has new resonance now,..."
I have not noticed DefenseNews.com taking political sides - they pretty much stick to facts.

Show me a link where it says Biden plans to cut defense spending or, as you claimed, defund the Pentagon.
If you can't show those things, especially the latter, it's an admission your claim was false and absurd.
