Watson just doesn't seem the same to me

I dunno if it was the play calling or chemistry with receivers or what, but it seemed like 90% of his throws were to the flats. The few times he's thrown it down field, for the most part, they just didn't seem to have enough air under them.

DW was off, but Peake and Hopper aren't getting separation.

Peake's effort is just not there. Hopper has always been a streaky guy. If he doesn't get the ball enough, he has a tendency to check out mentally.

+1. While an outstanding talent, Peake just can't seem to get all in on all plays. For whatever reason he just doesn't seem all there. Granted I don't think we targeted him much tonight. G-hop has always had problems catching the ball and again for whatever reason just can't get over the hill to be that elite guy streaking down the field for a score. I do think Deshaun misses mike in that he misses his "oh cr@p" man. Mike seems to be the target whenever the pocket collapses or Deshaun goes on a run. Now he doesn't have that almost automatic set of hands and instrad has to hesitate a moment to read the receivers.

Mike Williams is a beast. he misses him.. Charone Peake was suppose to be that dude in his absence and he's isn't living up to that #1 WR in the country tag..

I'm really hoping Cain can step it up this season. Maybe become the go to guy.

It is just a good defense that was not giving up much down the field and getting good QB pressure most of the game.

You are kidding yourself if you think Louisville is any good. They are terrible.
We are not good. Play calling is like you still have a one armed stoudt in there. I just don't understand it. So predictable. No surprise. No vertical threat. No moving the pocket. Just blah. What in the world was that? Do we only know three plays?
Louisville sucks.

Watson is fine. What I like about him is his maturity. He never gets rattled. That is what you need in a quarterback.

Everyone is blindly yelling "he's fine!" in this thread, but it's clear he's not. He's obviously still the same physically gifted guy we saw last year, but his head is clearly not the same as it was last season. We all know how good of a player he is, but he's got to collect himself mentally if we're going to have a shot at doing something great this year or next. Right now, we're looking at a 8-4 year with this version of Deshaun Watson under center.
Let's hope the next two weeks are humbling for him, and allow him to get his head on straight.

Aw look at you, trying to talk all tough. You even almost swore! What would your minister/pastor say? I know you want to show how devoted you are but, for now, why don't you just pipe down and let the adults have a conversation about tonight's game?

DW4 looked about the same tonight as he did against UofL last year before he got hurt. They have a good D. Not National Champions like the Coots tried to make A&M last year, but good.

I HONESTLY THINK SOME THESE YOUNG RECEIVERS NEED
Sep 17, 2015, 11:51 PM

NEED MORE SNAPS....Cain looked good tonight, so did ray ray the looked good as well as the always trust Scott. Refrow throws in as a fearless possession receiver we look a lot better. Leggitt looked pretty sharp. What's up with this Trevion Thomspon guy they talked all about him and I've seen nothing...he's not getting open and Peake IDK what's up and why do we throw the bombs to our shortest receivers...never have gotten that.... I say I'd take a look at the stat lines and say hey Deon can no drops gets open, McCloud sure handed can make you miss.....A Scott just tough elusive great player and say Peake, Hopper, and Thompson....you gotta show me something! I also think that we should have Tye Dye play Hybrid Tb xtra blocker for watson and slip out on some screen with Legitt to slow down defensive rushes!
