Wonder if that means the door has opened back up with Shaw?!? Especially now that the poet is gone and Eason is in.

I thought that was a questionable hire to begin with

He was the DC at Army before Mack hired him at UNC. If you looked at old school defensive numbers like YPG allowed his defenses at Army were good, but Army was also leading the country in time of possession while he was there and his defenses weren't on the field much or defending many plays. His per play numbers at Army weren't great. I was skeptical how that would translate to UNC, especially when they paired him with an up-tempo OC.

Re: UNC parted ways with DC. Shaw? M.Brown can recruit

When you think of Shaw committing to UNC, despite the awful play of their defense in general (and mediocre play of their D-Line, you've got to agree with the conclusion that many others have already said:
Mack Brown is one heck of a recruiter.
(Of course, Mack Brown can't coach his way out of a porta potty or develop players ... but he can sure recruit)

Dre Bly is also an ace on the recruiting trail.
My hope is that they promote Bly to DC.
His DBs haven't really played well once he gets them on campus.
I can only assume he would show the same lackluster product with everyone if he were put in charge of the whole defense.
Maybe that would punch some holes in his recruiting pitch if he is the guy taking the heat for a poor defense at UNC.

You have to think Kyler McMichael sees Goodrich’s success during his last year and is kicking himself for leaving Clemson.
Go Tigers!

His dad got in his ear. He though Tyler was a corner not a safety.

Actually, I think (and have heard several analysts say) that the DB play under Bly has been underwhelming. Most recently they were getting smoked by the chickens. He is a good recruiter (great player), but the jury is still out on his coaching ability.

Is this the same guy Walt said would be the next UNC head coach after Brown left?

I told a buddy of mine USC fan that NC needs to get rid of their DC. They did not stop anyone all year. They either get blown out or the game would be a shootout. Wake Forest same way. Score points but the D was going to give up a lot as well.

That dude should portal out ASAP if he is serious about making it to the league. His play will be elevated with a great position coach, DC and great supporting cast.

You mean they fired him for letting the coots put up 38 big ones on them. Their defense looked pathetic against the coots. Did they have all 11 starters hit the portal before the game? That is what it looked like. 11 back ups.

We said that way before the bowl game. The bowl game just made it impossible to keep him.
