UGH. Just looked at a still shot of Nick Chubb's knee injury

Sep 19, 2023, 10:26 AM

out on YouTube. His knee was bent nearly 90 degrees SIDEWAYS. If he is able to come back from that and play football again, I would be amazed. Reminds me of that Navy player Napoleon McCallum several years ago, where he was hung up in the pile, and his knee bent FORWARD 90 degrees. Or, more recently, and closer to home, Marcus Lattimore for the Coots. The amount of ligament and tendon damage in all of those has just got to be horrific.

Chubb's only saving grace may be that doctors have made amazing advances in sports injury surgeries in the last several years. He has already overcome one major injury from a couple of years ago. I will be rooting for the young man, the odds are certainly stacked against him now. Age, injury, and the "disposable" attitude of GMs toward the running back position will all work against him ever seeing the field again.

:(

I heard enough comments that I decided not to look. He is a good back and has been for years. He is in my prayers

I didn't see it, but I did see his leg sideways when he

injured it at UGA. That was nasty enough.

This was eerily similar, and probably worse. Same knee, same sideways bend, and likely several of the same ligaments torn again.

Years ago I heard a statement made....

... in jest.

"If God had wanted men to play football, the knee would be a ball and socket joint."

All of these are horrific and ended the careers of the two in the past. Nick Chubb would have to have a miraculous recovery to see the field again.
