someone just because your school lost out on him, have some backup reasons. I have two. Hershel and Cam Newton. In a way I don’t begrudge Hershel as it came down to Clemson and Georgia. He later in life admitted that he wanted to go to Clemson but circumstances dictated he do otherwise. I was pretty tight with a couple of Danny’s assistants at the time and the recruiting was bitter. Actually one night some Clemson and Georgia coaches came close to a fight. Not saying Clemson was innocent, they were just out bid. Hershel’s uncle had a used car lot. The week before signing the entire lot was empty. All cars were sod.
Cam is another story. I don’t think I have to say anymore about him .He got kicked out of Florida for stealing a t.v. from a teammate.
P.S.
My roommate was from Athens. Back in Fran Tarkington’s heyday (late 1950’s) his father was a poorly paid preacher at a Baptist Church in Athens. Fran had a new Ford T Bird.

Any fans older than me remember Perry Cuda? Lived on same street in Summerville. I remember him committing to Alabama and him driving a nice new sports car and supposedly Brooke Shields called him for Bama. Not sure how that worked or if true.
Anyways, my question did we try to recruit him? I know you was a disappointment at Bama

I remember Perry Cuda well. I thought Clemson had him locked up but the highest bidder got him. He did not turn out so well if I remember correctly. I believe he is a high school coach now. Was at Summerville for a while I believe.
