pathetic our coaches keep telling "The World" we need to "dumb down" our playcalling for our players? This is not the first time we've heard this crap! Not that our competitors need any help in defending Elliott's elementary school plays. But for once it'd be nice for Dabo to not belittle those guys in the trenches by saying they ain't smart enough for a real Offensive Playcaller's playbook!
Two areas we need to open up the possibility of replacement. OC and OL coaches. For those who are too blind to see.Coachingnot players is our problem at Clemson!
Everyone enjoy the butter soft offense tonight.
GO TIGERS!!!

Over the years you and I have actually spoken

and agreed on different topics here on TNet. Yet this year you wish to pretend our coaching is not at fault. You're blind for whatever reason.
"Best is Standard" That's what Dabo has told us from day one of his tenure. Forgive me for holding him and his coaches up to that. Week in and week out instead he and his OFFENSIVE Coach Elliott are berating the students and taking no blame. Listen, I mean really listen and watch Tony Elliott's pressers. He doesn't accept blame. He believes he's better than what he is. It's always the student players fault. Not his #### playcalling or preparedness.
But you stay the course if it makes you happy fella. Peace...Coot!

You’re a fan

I’m a fan. You’re entitled to nothing other than your role as a fan. Nor am I. Everyone here likes to think they know better than the party host that brought us to the pinnacle of college football supremacy because we have a Chitty O-line and a QB that is running for his life 80% of the time as a result. DJ is not yet what he needs to be and the offense is following suit. TE and Dabo have repeatedly owned the performance over and over, but it’s still not good enough.
Some people can’t handle adversity and others can. Those convinced they know better are just a little insecure, that’s all, but this constant woe is me, the coaches are all of the sudden terrible is ridiculous.
RC is done at year end. O’line will benefit, DJ will continue to mature and the sun will rise, yet again.
De-coot some. You’ll be happier.

definition of fair-weather fan. The team is struggling and jokers like you are ready to start firing coaches. Do you think it could be worse? Oh yea, it could be much worse.
Gonna be a tough year, that happens, so shut it!

I'm not going to say if I agree/disagree, but how many times do you need to hear that we run the same plays as everyone else in college FB. I mean, even the NFL is starting to use some college plays, those has to be the ones that we never use anymore!!!

No, you’re not alone. Bugs me something fierce. Offensive coaches got overconfident in their system with how good DW4 & TL16 were. They need to find some better messages because we aren’t always going to get QBs like those guys. No school does. Hopefully this week in practice was better and the coaches and players alike can build some genuine confidence in better play.

I think that the majority of Tiger nation is hoping for the very same thing. My biggest fear though is, if we lose to BC, Dabo will have to be a magician to keep the locker together after losing in our yard.
Losing at NC State in OT with their crowd, that is a band aid fix, losing your next game to a BC that their best win was against a Missouri team that got beat by Kentucky also, that is a confidence killer IMO.
Beat BC on home coming, that can definitely be a confidence builder for our team, losing it in your house at home coming is a heart crusher for team Clemson, and the fan base....

I’m with ya brother. Prob more nervous about this game than I can remember feeling in a long time. A win will help a lot. A win where we play well on offense will mean the world for this team.

Yes, you are.
But I’ll explain, so you don’t get offended while “standing up for your boys” on an anonymous message board.
Our offense is not about pile-driving run blocking or smash-mouth fullback play. It’s about pulling guards, screen passes, TEs lining up as H-backs, and fitting a pass into a 12”-box that only our guys can reach. In other words, it’s all about split-second timing and accurate passing, with very little margin for error.
Well, we’re not very precise right now. And it takes lots of reps—GOOD reps, not average ones—to become precise. It can be as simple as a WR using the wrong foot to step off, causing him to be a half-step late in blocking on a bubble screen, which results in either a negative play or a penalty for blocking in the back.
So at this point in the season, our team’s margin for error is gone. We can’t lose again to a division opponent and hope to make the ACCCG. It’s time to lower the requirement for precision and hopefully play looser, more consistent and with more confidence.
Personally I’d like to see us with at least 20 first downs and 70 offensive plays this week. DW4 used to take 90 snaps in some games. In our losses this year, DJ hasn’t hit 50 in regulation.

But how do you know that the Tight Ends need to be better, they have barely been used enough to form an opinion on our tight ends!!!!

@davidhood what type of offense did DJ run in high school? Have coaches considered watching plays that he excelled with and is comfortable with and incorporating them into our offense? That would give him a little confidence and maybe get him rolling.

Might also look at the film from last year's game at Notre Dame. As I recall, Etienne didn't do much in terms of rushing yardage but DJ excelled...

I have said a few times that we needed more motion plays

When your OL is struggling, if you add some eye candy, something to create a little defensive confusion so they can't Tee-off as easily. Anything that can create a slight rush delay or missed DB assignment could definitely help. It's not like we are imposing our will on teams so let's add some gimmicks to help our offense.
Also, I have read many times and heard talking heads mention that it really appears DJU is really having hard time with RPO. If that's true, that hat has be a pretty easy fix. Plus i know the RPO is difficult for the OL not knowing if it's a run or pass. I think designed run plays would be a huge benefit, especially bounced to outside some. Almost every run this year has been up the middle which hasn't worked.

This will be a difficult game. Boston College is always well prepared and plays sound football. Well coached team.
