Yeah they did. Had a sinking feeling when they missed with 4 or 5 minutes left. Had a great opportunity then. Dang. Dissapointing. Extremely disappointing with the great year we had. Reminds me a lot of the 2015 natty game. Woulda coulda shoulda. And Pitt winning 4-0. Would have bet all that'd been us.

However the goal keeper is allowed to movie laterally (along the goal line) as much as they like. Additionally, per the NCAA rule they can move forward as long as at least some part of one of their feet is on, or over, the goal line at all times prior to the kick.
Rule 14-2-3
Until the ball is kicked, the opposing goalkeeper shall remain on the
goal line with at least part of one foot touching or in line with the
goal line, facing the kicker, and between the goal posts without touching
the goal posts, crossbar or goal net, and is permitted to move laterally
(that is, from side to side).

The hitting the net would not. Though to be honest that would provide very little advantage for the keeper. The real reason/impetus for the rule is to stop the GK from leaving his line early (both feet beyond the goal line) and cutting down the angle.

As long as the GK has at least one foot on (or in line with) the goal line.
That is the Fifa rule, and I believe the NCAA rule (as quoted) is the same.
