Sammy was kinda good ~
Even though he didn't take part in spring practice, Watkins made an immediate impact for Clemson in his freshman season in 2011. He caught 82 passes for 1,219 yards and 12 touchdowns in his first collegiate season, including 10 catches, 155 yards and two touchdowns against the defending national champion Auburn Tigers. He led the nation in reception yards per game, all-purpose yards and touchdowns. He also broke 11 school freshman records seven games into the season, including total all-purpose yards previously held by C. J. Spiller.

I remember Mel Kiper saying Sammy would be drafted in the first round if he could enter the draft after his freshman year.

I thought Skip Wise also. Skip's life after Clemson wasn't the best but, the OP didn't say Football only. For football, you can't argue with TL, the Fridge or Sammy.

Fridge was good and a physical freak far ahead of his time but for me it’s Justin Miller. 8 interceptions 2 kick off returns 1 punt return all as a true freshman. By the third game he was our shut down corner and isolated on an island. Towards the end of his freshman season QBs wouldn’t even throw his way. They schemed offense away from him. He was lights out.

Defense I'd have to say Justin Miller, had 8 INTs as a freshman. And was a dangerous return man

Some might say Mitch Hyatt - started out of the gate at the most important OL position for right handed QBs. And oh by the way we went to the Natty and hung 500+ yards on Bama. Of course he followed it up with two more trips to the Natty (wins) for two different QBs.

Gotta put Sammy Watkins and Spiller in there as well, both were game-changers they day they stepped foot on campus.
Justin Miller came in ready to play as well at a position that really needed a talent upgrade. It seemed like actually got worse with coaching cause he was a stud his frosh year.
