is gripping the nation putting blinders on all the sheep so they can again vote for socialism, here's what it looks like when a POTUS is trying to reel in the scope and breadth of an out-of-control federal government. Trump is the only POTUS I am aware of that did what he said he would do w.r.t. this.

And what happens? Check out the number of pages in the Federal Register. The 2016 blip increase is Obama, not Trump.
You'd never see or read this in the echo chamber.
Whoever presents a strategy similar to this gets my vote in 2024.
As a compromise, I might even vote for someone espousing federal gubment reductions (like above), but also supporting killing babies, teaching boys to be girls and girls to be boys at the earliest ages, defunding police, and creating war zones in urban areas.

Really, the point of the post was to educate you on something Trump actually achieved in office as opposed to sending Morse code messages to the Russians like your echo chamber says.
Sorry the socialism part distracted you, but I can understand how you might be sensitive to that.

1. The Omega variant thing is, I agree, BS. COVID is done. Let's move on.
2. Socialism isn't coming nor is that what this is about.
3. Trump's COVID response was disastrous.
4. No presidential candidate wants to defund police or turn cities into urban warfare zones.

Wow, it's worse than I thought.
I'm briefing some high level DoD people in September which is why I got into this thread of regulations as these officials want to know how regs impact the defense industrial base.
Check this out...
The cost paid by the federal gov't to enforce its own regs and intervene w.r.t. regs is more than the entire GDP of Canada, Russia, S. Korea, Australia, Spain, & Mexico.
In 2019 43% of the expenses (beige bar) of the federal gov't went into paying for its own regulations (green).
Yeah, some regs and enforcement are needed, but it is beyond out of control.

I 100% agree the regs do prohibit entry of new players into the defense contracting space.
However, I disagree that any contractor wants or desires such a thing. If there is one place where competition still exists it is within DoD procurement. Sure, you may wave your hand and say Lockheed is going to win this or that, but the RFPs and Proposals are real as are the millions of dollars spent preparing proposals.
And money spent on much smaller procurements not won by Lockheed and Boeing is huge.
At the raw level of 'source selection' there are real people reading proposals and writing evaluations to defend their rating. Most of this eventually gets into the open. It can only get so crooked.
The more crooked part has to do with funding the programs at the congressional level. Lot of swamp there.
We have to have in-house experts or pay to hire consultants far too many areas. Just setting up an accounting system that will pass muster (federal audits) is like sending men to the moon.
