Anybody know what they are building on Perimeter Road where lot 3 J is ( was?)? This is across the road from lot 5 in front of Jervey Gym. That’s my parking about to go away!?

It's likely the Jervey renovation and expansion project...

The 50,000-square-foot addition will house Clemson's sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition and applied science departments. The project will also include a long overdue upgrade to the volleyball facility.

I lived in Johnstone with tin walls, no air conditioning, no cable, no raising cane’s, a mile and a half walk to my car in R1, and loved every minute of it. And no this wasn’t the 50s it was in the 90s.

I concur. Johnstone in 98-99 then a shoebox the next year. It was amazing in my opinion. Loved it too much; so much so that those two years led to my degree saying "Winthrop." At some point I'll probably try to get a second masters or a doctorate from Clemson to get my ring.

Not calling you out here, but the Cans had AC installed in time for my freshman year- 1970. Maybe you were in a section they hadn’t gotten to?

I was in Johnstone in 88-89 and we had AC. They were slow to convert AC to Heat and vice versa a couple times, so it got hot or cold a few times but we had both most the time.

They claimed that it was AC but that was BS

The fountain in front of the library was part of a water cooling system where they cooled water using evap and then circulated it through campus. Then had fans in the dorm that blew air across the cooled water thereby marginally cooling the air. Or at least that’s what we were told. It sure wasn’t a real modern AC with actual refrigerants compressors and expansion tubes. My room never got below 80 when it was warm outside.

The water from the reflection pool only cools the buildings around that area, Johnstone wouldn’t have been included.
