Homer was a good but not great QB who did not not hurt us. Our 81 team was about our offensive line, defense and kicking, in other words a Danny Ford team. Great coaches, great players, National Champs, nuff said.

that he was so dehydrated and exhausted after the game, he had to have an IV in the locker room to get him off the floor.
The only other "total" effort I can recall like that where a player was obviously exhausted, but kept going, was CJ Spiller in the losing effort in the 2009 ACC Championship game. Only time I can remember a player on the losing team being named MVP of a game.

I do remember Homer getting an IV as soon as the game ended.

The sad part is, that game doesn't even exist any more as far as the records go. CJ didn't lose. GT didn't win. Clemson didn't win. Crazy.
Even worse, I was there. CJ played his behind off, won MVP, but when I left the stadium, I thought we had lost.
Kind of confusing if you don't understand the whole story.

I was a kid. He was the QB on the team from South Carolina I fell in love with.
So, yeah, it's mostly nostalgia but he is my favorite all time Clemson QB( I know, I know stats don't support it).
Wish nothing but the best for Homer!

We had a pretty good WR Perry Tuttle and team of RB’s who rose to the occasion too. Our defense dominated Nebraska’s big hogs, they didn’t have an answer.

since temp at game-time was hottest in U.S. that afternoon & evening which caused extreme humidity.. thus Nebraska players being worn down by it & Tiger team.
