Dabo at Williams-Brice

Since Dabo took over in 2009 as full time head coach, he has done an amazing job with the Tigers and promoting the Clemson brand. But if there was a thorn in Dabos side, it has to be Williams-Brice Stadium. The Tigers have performed poorly there during his tenure, going 1-3 with the lone win being a huge struggle that should have been a blowout. Clemson was ranked #1 and South Carolina was coming off a loss to The Citadel. However Clemson did find a way to win that day. But the struggle in WB is very real, and that's why I'm concerned about Saturdays game. If you had to pinpoint a cause during those game for the struggle, it has to be the rediculous amount of turnovers in each of those games. We averaged between 3 to 6 turnovers per game. Clemson can not afford to turn the ball over this Saturday. One time we should overcome, but any more than that would put our Playoff chances in jeopardy. To make a long story short, the key to Saturday's game will be to not turn the ball over. If we avoid the turnovers, I think we can win comfortably.

"Ling" is defined as a long edible fish; definitely a fishy statement for the "tiger fan"

Maybe it was because I was at work during the game but I remember sweating it out a lot more than I intend.

Thought this was strange as well. Actual average is 3.25 turnovers per game the last 4 years in Columbia
3 in 2015 - Win 37-32 - Coots had 1 6 in 2013 - Loss 31-17 - Coots had 0 1 in 2011 - Loss 34-13 - Coots had 0 3 in 2009 - Loss 34-17 - Coots had 2
Does seem to be a problem down there.

HOW CAN YOU SAY IT WAS A HUGE STRUGGLE. THE GAME WAS NEVER IN DOUBT. THEY SCORED A MEANINGLESS TD WITH SECONDS TO GO TO MAKE IT LOOK BETTER THAN IT WAS. THAT BEING SAID, WE NEED TO COME OUT EARLY AND STEP ON THEIR THROAT.

To be fair they did score a touchdown with about 12 minutes left in the game to make it 28-25. They then got Clemson in a 3rd and 9 on the next drive, and a 3rd and 7 later in the drive which were both converted by Clemson who later scored a touchdown on that drive. Things could have gotten pretty uncomfortable had South Carolina made a stop on either of those 3rd downs.
That was after Clemson had led the game 28-10. I think Clemson sort of fell asleep for a little while in that one, and then quickly woke back up to put the game away.

I think your points are valid. I do see a highly motivated Tiger team playing like it's all on the line this week. I believe we win comfortably, and I really doubt Dabo tries to throttle back now that "style points" probably are going to be a huge factor in this playoff selection.

It has more to do with other issues than venue.

SOS was the best coach they ever had and Dabo was a pup when we played against SOS. Dabo got outcoached on a regular basis by SOS. SOS beat us four times with a less talented and less skilled team.
Couple that with this, while Tajh was one of the best we've had he struggled to control his emotions. The team followed Tajh, when Tajh was confident the team was confident. SOS had Tajh's number and shook Tajh early and often when we played them.
It had little to do with the venue.

I think people discredit how great the South Carolina DL was during that run. Boyd didn't always play perfect, but I think he often gets too much of the blame. In one of our losses to them in Clemson Boyd was sacked like 10 times. In our 5th loss in Columbia, was it Boyd's fault we decided to get cute on our first drive and have Sammy Watkins throw an interception? Was it Boyd's fault we muffed two punts, or his fault that Shaw ran for over 100 yards? He threw a couple picks, but those came out of desperation late in the game.
Spurrier had a lot to do with it with his coaching, but I also wouldn't say it was as simple as him outcoaching Dabo. I mainly say that because most of their success during that streak was on the defensive side of the ball. You control the battle at the line, and you're going to be hard to beat.

"You control the battle at the line, and you're going to be hard to beat."
Which is what we should do this year, and why I'm not too concerned about the game on Saturday. It's a rivalry and anything can happen, but I think we'll get up early (28-7 or so), and end up winning 42-20ish

Turnover margin?

Some your concern would seem to rest on the chickens being turnover free. I don't see that happening and would be surprised if they don't turn it over multiple times. I'm concerned mainly because of the importance of the game, and kind of an any given Saturday type of deal, but I really do not expect it to be close. There is a lot bigger gap in talent than it was under Spurrier.

more than I do now. And the responses to this post are exactly why. This is a legitimate concern (citing facts nonetheless) and the only response is "you're a coot!"
I agree. If we don't turn the ball over, I don't worry about it. If we do, it's gonna be a nail-biter. Would love to us come out and take care of the ball, win the field position game, and hit a few deep shots to take the top off their defense.
