Texas A&M

During my military career, I met and worked with quite a few great Americans that were Aggies. The school produces a lot of good officers. Funny, though, in the 80’s and 90’s it was almost SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) to begin almost every briefing with an Aggie joke.* Still, I always had a positive image and thoughts of the school for that military heritage and connection.

However, since their admission to the SEC, and more recently, their hiring of Jimbo Fisher, I find myself rooting against them in any collegiate sport. While no fan of Houston, I sure hope they boot the Aggies from the tournament.

*Favorite Aggie joke: Do you know why you can always tell if an officer went to Texas A&M? You will see their class ring every time they pick their nose.

My family lived in Houston for almost 20 years. I attended a lot of games at College Station and was an Aggie fan. The day they hired Jimbo Fisher I jumped ship. I have never pulled for them again in any sport. Having worked with many Aggies and Aggettes while in Texas, we came to realize that they are a lot like Coots........they are a different breed and, shall we say, unique in a very negative sorta way.

Nah. I grew up in an Aggie family and will always pull for them when not playing Clemson. Can't blame them for hiring Jimbo. They were trying to win, and figured a change of scenery might help. Ironically, I think their new coach is a better fit, but had he not been Jimbo's DC at A&M, would he have been the hire? You never know. Sucks they didn't win last night, but Buzz seems like a classy guy and a good coach, so I'm sure it won't be a one-off.
