some wins vacated so Eddie Robinson would once again be the win record holder. Now this was not the university but the town of Grambling as I've heard it. So the kick them when they are down spirit of Booby Bowden is alive and well all across the country not just at Free Shoes U

Should he have been fired at some point in the last 10 years

Jul 20, 2012, 11:47 AM

if his knowledge of and cover up of the crimes had been discovered sooner?

I think they have a very strong argument.

think you can make a very strong case for vacating ALL wins after he covered-up Sandusky's activities the FIRST time. I believe that was in 1998.

I have trouble understanding how some folks don't see the magnitude of Joe Paterno's corruption. The MOST important thing to him was his programs public image. If that isn't evil, I don't know what is. He wasn't the only one who thoughtthat way either, it involved more than 1 AD and president. PSU was rotten to the core.

Why should they be allowed to keep them?

Bobby throwing in his 2 cents was just comical, & pathetic

It was so transparent. And the program he built (with shady recruiting) pushed him out.

If PSU's Board spent more time standing behind the positives

of their University & one man's life & their own, than spending millions for half-baked reporting to cover their own butts, perhaps they might seem more respectable in the eyes of the real world, and not just the vampiric, money seeking press.

FWIW..Conflicting Reports on Status of Joe Paterno Statue

Jul 20, 2012, 1:09 PM

http://www.statecollege.com/news/local-news/conflicting-reports-on-status-of-joe-paterno-statue-1095242/

Penn State, State College and social media is in a frenzy over whether Joe Paterno's statue remains outside Beaver Stadium.

On Tuesday, Penn State president Rodney Erickson said a decision will be made on the statue in the next 7-10 days, which means anytime this week or next. Several reports, including Sports Illustrated, The Chicago Tribune and CBS offer conflicting reports, two saying it will come down as early as this weekend.

Penn State spokesman Dave LaTorre said he is not aware of any decision being made and has no other information at this time.

Regarding rumors the Penn State Board of Trustees voted via phone conference Thursday night to take the statue down, new board member Capt. Ryan McCombie said "we did no such thing."

Best comment was to turn the statue around so Paterno could continue to look the other way.
