Rivals Ranking

Disclaimer: may be Germans Sure these aren't the sole factor in determining a programs future success but are a good indicator of talent acquisition. Right now we are back to #3 having jumped FSU. This is a great class for us no matter how you cut it. Some of our guys could be ranked higher maybe and you could argue here and there about it. Fact is we are providing our coaches and team leaders with the talent needed to compete for a playoff spot in the future. Just thought I would update in case someone wanted to know or missed it.

I saw that we had leaped FSU too. I couldn't find a reason. I thought they were done with their changes and we haven't picked up another commit since Fields. Did FSU lose one?

The rankings also fluctuate after they re-rank commits following All-Star games. I know we had Deon Cain and Christian Wilkins moved to 5* status with Hyatt, and Ray Ray and a few others got ranked up a bit. Only big drop was Hyatt, but he still remains a 5*

Hyatt dropped to 4*

The only reason I've found for Hyatt falling at all was because he hasn't gained weight. Most of the sites thought that he would be pushing 3 bills by the end of the year. If Hyatt were still a 5 we'd have fourbut we only have 3 on rivals. McCloud, Cain, and Wilkins.

Hyatt is no longer a 5 star unfortunately. Not on Rivals at least. I still think he is a 5 star talent. Bad week at the All Star game. He did really well for years in 5A football in Georgia. Went against and in some cases dominated the likes of Nkemdiche, Carter, among others. He is a beast. Maybe the All Star game wasn't important to him, maybe he was under the weather, maybe the coaching was different, who knows. All I know is that for 2-3 years he dominated one of the toughest leagues in high school football while being undersized. He is also a pretty good basketball player. I think he isn't a 5 star because of so many other talented kids this year primarily defensive. Other years he could have been a 5 even with a poor All star game. BTW its not like he just tanked. He held his own most of the game and got beat a couple of times. Got beat a few times in 1 on 1 but that happens. Oh well we are getting a good one either way.

I also think it is worth noting that based on the last two years(only years rivals used current ranking formula) this class would have ranked 4th(14) and 5th(13) in the final class rankings. Now I know year to year the player rankings fluctuate but I think that gives some indication of how great this class really is.

agreed and with Auburn, UF, and USC being the likeliest destination for several of the top prospects I don't know how much will change. Im not going to do the math but I don't think Auburn could jump us with just 1-3 more prospects, USC might get a ton and compete for #1 but they are already in front of us. Kudos to Sarkisian. UF could land several big name prospects but at 100 they are just hoping for sniffing the top 25.

Best case for USC, they could get Porter Gustin, John Houston, Rasheem Green, and Iman Marshall. They are all 5 stars and they have 17 4 stars right now. They might not get all of them and I won't do the math but they are the team to beat for all 4 and they should be close.

Can't be right

Only one SEC team in the top 4.
#1 Bama followed by #2 the real USC. Then what's this? 2 ACC schools: #3 Clemson and #4 FSU.
However, the only other ACC school in the Top 20 is VT @ #20.
The talent gap just continues to grow between Clemson/FSU and the rest of the ACC.

Semi-Quasi-part-time Notre Dame is in the top 20 and at least the "U" and UNCheat are in the top 25. Louisville, GT and NC State in the top 40. BC will do well regardless of top players just like GT. Louisville has Petrino and well we will continue to pretty much dominate everyone else including NC State. Yes, I am brimming with confidence.

's mean very little

Star rankings are for one reason and one reason only. To sell subscriptions and get hits for advertising. They have to force it to fluctuate as much as possible to gain hits. They would move one group of teams one week and another group of teams the next week. We'll drop down to 4 or 5 after signing day.

So they are like every other business in America. Anyway anyone who doesn't think that the 5 stars aren't some of the best talent is stupid. I think that the number of 5 stars should fluctuate depending on the year. This year there are several guys who should be 5 stars and the total number should probably be closer to 45 or 50 this year.
