I hope it happens because I believe the SEC would then be very motivated to work something out with us and FSU to try and lessen the financial impact of us leaving the ACC.

If that happens I worry that there will be zero motivation by ESPN/SEC to invite Clemson and FSU. Why would they unless the BiG 10 wanted to expand down here. This whole thing is brutally frustrating

That seems unlikely. Notre Dame is bound to the ACC GOR which includes them not being able to join another conference for football

The football lock to the ACC expires in 2024. From CBS Sports:

Notre Dame's options include leaving for the Big Ten in 2024 and paying the ACC's exit fee — which is estimated in the range of $100 million (or equal to three times the ACC's most recent annual revenue) — or the Fighting Irish could stay put and determine what their next TV contract would fetch once the current deal with NBC expires in 2025. Notre Dame is the most attractive expansion pawn left on college football's realignment table and the Fighting Irish know it.

Paul Finebaum said Tuesday on WFNZ in Charlotte, N.C., that the ACC will cease to exist in the future without Notre Dame's inclusion. As is stands according to updated projections, the Big Ten is expected to dole out $100 million per team a few years from now in TV revenue thanks to the recent acquisition of USC and UCLA.

Article from 2021 says otherwise.

If Notre Dame were to join a conference in football before 2036 — a deal concurrent with the league’s grant of rights — it would be contractually obligated to join the ACC.

So much going around right now, I don't know if this is true or not. Seems like they wouldn't be pushing for Stanford if they were only waiting out 2 years.

They are not a signatory to the GOR. They have the NBC contract for football.

ND won't take the ~$50 mil/yr paycut. It makes no sense.

The B1G pays more than what ND is getting from NBC right now

"Currently, Notre Dame receives $22 million / year from NBC. For comparison, the new Big Ten deal will be expected to pay out around 90 million per year/ per team in the future regardless of on-field performance."
