Predictions on the rest of the season...

3

Sep 25, 2023, 11:23 AM

What a wide variance right now.

I could see us only losing 1 game (ND) the rest of the season. I can just as easily see us losing 4 more games (ND, Miami, UNC and SC).

Heck, even games at Syracuse and NC State will be tough and could go the wrong way with a few turnovers.
To say there is parody across the league is an understatement.

My wishlist for the rest of the season:
- Win turnover battle every game (that might be enough)
- Stay Injury free
- Start taking taking some deep shots (we can't sustain 8-10 play drives every time down the field).
- Hit better than 80% on FGs the rest of the season.

As far as the National picture is concerned, Clemsons season is over. No more talk of Clemson by the tv experts.

The season is over as far as national recognition is concerned. It’s going to be interesting to see how Dabo and his staff handles the next eight or nine games.

IF Clemson can turn this pitiful season around NOW and play big time football for the rest of the year we will still retain our image as one of college footballs best! Can they do it???

Quite honestly they HAVE to!

I hope, no I pray that we can turn this season around and win out, but I honestly do not believe that we have the proper coaching staff that can achieve a win out season with some of the teams remaining on our schedule.

I personally believe that Dabo is a lot more knowledgeable at coaching than a lot of folks give him credit of being. But for us to win out, I believe that he would have to make it a full time job and oversee the coaching that don't have much coaching experience, or it's going to be really tough to win out....

The good Lord knows that there is no way in my lifetime with as little as I have left to live would ever want to see us lose 4 more games putting us in Coot U category. But if we did drop 4 games, and with as stubborn and hardheaded that Dabo truly is, would he then admit to himself that it's a coaching problem, and make corrections with the one/ones that had to go and bring in a couple of top coaches for the sake of helping to get this team back to where he has proved they belong???

Josh Pate made a statement after the Duke game that he thought Dabo would do one of two things after this season:

1) Resign
2) Overhaul his coaching staff, and embrace the transfer portal like 'Bama, UGA, and OSU.

Dabo's not a quitter, so I personally think #2 happens. Until then, we got what we got.

I'm all in on winning the current game. No looking ahead.

I can see us finishing 7-5. We've already lost 2 and I think ND is just better than us. Then we'll lose a couple more due to a no confidence kicker or careless ball handling on offense. Heck, we might lose to Syracuse this weekend if they're still thinking about the FSU game they just gave away.

I’m a huge believer in statistics and trends and not in fairytales. Clemson is 1-4 against last five power 5 opponents. This does not bode well for the remainder of the season. I do think we will be too much for Wake Forest, NC, State and Georgia Tech. I see the remaining five games as tossups. Based on recent history, I would say 2-3 with a final record of 7-5. If the ball bounces our way for one of these games maybe 8-4…

Yep, this year is going to be hard to call before playing the games.

At the beginning of the year, I had two main concerns: ND and FSU. UNC and USuC were honorable mentions.

Now, almost every game feels like a pick'em. First time I haven't felt truly confident in our team owning the schedule since maybe DW4's FR year b/f he started.

I definitely think running the table to go 10-2 is still there but I wouldn't bet much on it. The team could easily go 6-6 (or worse) pending some bad breaks or the team quitting.

The optimist in me thinks we get to at least 8 wins. We play well at home and there's a chance we smooth things out before ND and UNC come to town. However, on the road...yeesh. I'm hoping we use Saturday as a spring board to shake off the road jitters and give us more confidence moving forward.

The ACC screwed us with scheduling this year!

After the Duke game I thought 8-4, or 7-5.

I thought we'd improve as the season progressed and we have, but so is everyone else.

I'm sticking with it.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

8-4

Sep 25, 2023, 3:07 PM

And that's if we clean it up

We are getting any better at fg kicking, so we are automatically spotting the other team 3-6 points a game.

ND is just better than us in the trenches - that could be a very ugly game if we play lose with the ball

Miami on the road is going to be be tough

NCST and Cuse can both beat us on the road if we don't bring our A game

USC sucks, but Rattler is good enough to beat you by himself when he’s hot

10-2 would be truly remarkable.
