Just heard him on Mickys show this morning and he seems to believe that we are done at receiver with the exception of taking Mike Matthews as an athlete. That means Alex Taylor and Staley will have to find other homes.

probably half true, considering we need to fill scholarship spots to fill out before going overboard on receivers. definitely need 3 guys though, 2 is not enuff

I’d agree and would bet we have a third by signing day. There’s also a chance someone transfers in august camp once depth charts get established.

Maybe we’ve got them on campus and in the current recruiting class, but I’m skeptical.
I think the coaches know, however, so I won’t go so far as to say a third WR in 24 is an absolute must.

Agreed. However, as to your “…. we have 11 WRs on scholarship, and usually only carry 10…”; if Ryan Wingo - a 5 star WR and on our list of 2024 targets told Dabo he wants to come play at Clemson, don’t you think Dabo would give him a scholarship?

That is a fact only there aren’t many Wingo types out there. Mike Matthews fits that bill. Taylor and Staley aren’t of that caliber.

If he wants to come and play for Clemson there should be a place for him, and that is why coaches don't fill every last spot in case of an elite player wanting to come and be a part of our Tiger FB team....

Yea not been impressed with Collins. Hopefully some new comers will be able to stretch the field. Maybe our guys quit practicing any passes over 20 yards because they knew there was no way DJ could get them the ball.

Taylor is not on the same level as our current commits. Matthew’s and Coleman would be takes IMO. Maybe Staley. Of course he and Taylor could have committed sooner and didn’t.

Sort of to your point raider12, on one of yday’s Roar morning shows, the point was made that Dabo probably had a heart to heart with the WR targets and told them what he was going to do. Thus, the two quick commits were a result. The other guys who were still on the fence - and/or want to take more visits - may just be left out. As most of the guys discussed above are not rated higher than the guys who signed - and unless Dabo, Riley, Grisham, et. al. don’t have them ‘rated higher’ than 24/7, espn, etc. - then I don’t see us ‘over signing’. Not Dabo’s way.
However, it does still leave my question out there: does he take a higher ‘services’ rated WR if said WR wants to commit?

I think Staley ends up in the class at the end... although he and Taylor may commit to UNC soon, Matthews likely to Tennessee and Coleman to Auburn…. I heard the NIL deal for Coleman to auburn has been done for a while

I wouldn’t be so sure for Matthews. I know we are in a battle with Tenn butt I would say it’s 60% us and 40% today. His next visit to Tennessee May change things.
