They are actually called displays as they are stationary. Floats are built on wheeled structures and are meant to be moved around like in the Rose Bowl parade....FYI

If you had you’d know that people at Clemson don’t give a danm what they call it at the Rose Bowl. We call them “floats” at homecoming.

Great video I remember those displays being incredible for a couple of years there. Just huge and I loved the year with the 2huge, tall tigers on different sides of the street reaching acoss holding a banner I think.

This is fantastic. Thank you for sharing. By chance do you have any video from the skits inside the stadium?
I remember the skits being so much bigger, better sets, etc. Lately, they only showcase one skit at Tigerama. Also, they do the whole shown on the sidelines, not on the field.

@Spud the display may be similar to something that was in 1977, but there is no question this footage is from 1974 season.
The 8mm was labeled as such and footage I have from the same reel was from the game on this day and the opponent was Duke. Clemson did not play Duke at home in 1977.
I'll post more from this reel later this week.

Charlie Pell when Pell was still at Va Tech in 1974.
Could this actually be film of Homecoming 1976 ... or perhaps the “Pell Construction Company” display/float is not actually referencing Charlie Pell?
Either way ... great stuff! Thanks!

The reference to Pell must be something other than Charlie Pell!? I am 100% certain the video is from 1974 Homecoming vs. Duke. In later footage on the same 8mm reel, a pan of the stadium after game showed the scoreboard....Clemson 17, Duke 13.
I don't have an explanation to the Pell Construction...but the video is most certainly 1974.

DueWest I can't explain the strange oddity of the float noting Pell Construction, but the film is most certainly the 1974 Homecoming Game.
The 8mm was labeled as such and footage I have from the same reel was from the game on this day and the opponent was Duke with the score of 17-13.
I'll post more from this reel later this week.

John Antonio originally designed the Tiger Paw with the 1:00 tilt in 1970.
The tilt just did not take true effect until later. You see the 12:00 unofficial Tiger Paws all through 70's and early 80's.
Even today, you see Clemson fans purchase a Tiger Paw Magnet or sticker on their car and do not tilt to the 1:00 angle.
