Observations on South Beach so far

- I’m not surprised to hear a bunch of Spanish, but I am interested that all the white people around me seem to be here for some sort of USSR reunion tour. Heavy Eastern European and Russian influences around me.
- The beach water is clear and calm. I don’t know if because closer to the equator, but I can almost hear the sun frying my forehead
- The model of Waverunner I rented will tac out at exactly 54 mph on open water out past the surf
- The scent of marijuana smoke isn’t that remarkable, but I am impressed at the consistent quality of dank im smelling based on many years of experience in that arena
- Live music both in the hotel and across the way
- 20% service charge on literally everything, which makes tipping even more confusing because the person who serves you only gets a portion of that and the number of people they share that with varies by location.
Even in a kitschy, Myrtle Beach sort of way at times, there’s a ton of culture and fun here.. Love the art deco motif below 15th and the newer, more modernized scene up the street.

The sheer number of people who look 19 and are driving Lamborghinis or similar. I really can’t tell if they’re all oligarch’s kids, drug dealers, or just in debt to their eyeballs, but there’s a million of em.

Pros: Walking distance to everything. Attached to a great steakhouse.
Cons: The rooms are NOT nice enough for them to be charging $500/night
