I seriously doubt he is the only coach/team to feel this new junior league. Surprised he didn't complain about players unions yet.

Let the fall of CFB begin. CFB better develop rules and quick. This is called tampering in the NFL.
Did anyone not see this coming?

Makes the toothless NCAA's job easy, though. They no longer even have to pretend to care.

My guess is that sort of thing started with the Portal and even before. Happens in all walks of life.

And this is not coming from a bottom-dweller whiner. Patterson is a highly-respected very successful P5 coach who is simply stating the obvious and is one of many that will start chirping publicly about this new reality in the near future. And you honestly can't blame them. They will continue to struggle to sign/retain top recruits the longer this goes on. This is not going to end well for many programs.

USC, the real one, will rival Bama in talent within 5 years due to NIL.

Already near impossible to recruit the top players against the handful of blue-bloods, and this will simply nudge it closer to impossible.

Sorry, but it jumped way before NIL

The money train got too big and the players weren't allowed to ride.
Universities & networks enriched themselves beyond belief while broadcasters and talking heads became multimillionaires on the backs of those on the field.
CFB jumped the shark many years ago when it became more professional than educational.
Blaming NIL is just plain lazy.
We live in America, where people who generate revenue have a right to be compensated. Some of you need to remember that. Keeping players locked in the basement while everyone else partied upstairs was immoral.

...their right to be compensated began the moment they signed that NLI that provided free tuition, the best of medical care, the best of nutrition, the best of on-campus housing, the best of tutoring, the best of post-college career counseling and networking, and everything other "normal" students didn't have free access to. All those things that I, my wife, and our two kids didn't get and had to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in real money for. And took many many years to payoff. Some of you need to remember that.

When CFB changed to be a financial colossus, the players must be allowed to participate.
The Supreme Court and the Constitution are right. 9-0.

...for the better. And that includes CU. If not for our present status, we would find ourselves in the same predicament as TCU and other schools. We are very fortunate that we are where we are when this NIL nonsense began. Just imagine if this started in 2010. You think we would have 2 championships since? No way.

I have no problem with the NIL in a vacuum. The issue is the NIL is being used as a 3rd party tool to pay and steal players as everyone knew it would be. Mix in no transfer rules or contracts to bind the player and you have what will be a hot mess if they do not get strict rules in place and quick. A NFL player just cannot up and leave without issues. The haves are going to recruit the top players from the less successful schools.
The NIL in college is way to pay players through what is a 3rd party arranged by the schools.
This is far different from a successful player who has companies reach out to him to advertise for them. Which is what the courts looked at. This is one of the main reasons there has been push back against it.
Honestly at this point just pay them a salary and create a salary cap to level the playing field to keep the sport competitive. If there are only a successful few, then we will stop watching. The NIL new world order does not benefit a school like Clemson long term.

Human garbage has never valued a free education and all this talk about the NIL is all the proof you need.

We should all be praying God spares the sport for the sake of these kids & other athletic programs.
Dabo has great ideas how to tie great incentives to them getting their degree & saving money for their future.
I want them all to succeed & be ready for the future, it won’t work well with kids who’s brains aren’t fully formed to always have an out when it gets tough. They need to learn to face the difficulties & prevail and then be rewarded for the hard work.
Everything that was good for me while growing at their age took hard work & some difficulty learning.
These schools wanting to recruit kids at other schools will let them down the moment they don’t provide the skills they need or they find something better.
It will make it difficult for coaches like Dabo that want to build the whole man knowing 2% of them make the NFL & life can be very hard without skills & drive to succeed.
