NFL Film Room breaks down Sammy

Nov 15, 2013, 3:54 PM

NFL Film Room

more pre-draft Sammy hype. He is in a class by himself, and this a very weak WR class overall, especially by comparison to last year. Top 5 pick.

Player Update: NFL film room breaks down Sammy Watkins.

Lol. T minus 10 until it's a headline on here.

Dangit I need him to have heart valve issues like Star

I would love watching Sammy catch newton's passes. Could be the most explosive offense in the NFL overnight.

Except that Newton blows. Carolina will not win anything

with him as quarterback. The only reason they are doing any good right now is because of their defense. Newton is too dumb to ever be good.

disagree...and here's why

Nov 15, 2013, 4:29 PM

As a rookie he broke Peyton's rookie record for most yards in his first game as a pro. His second game as a pro he passed for even more yards. The same year he went to the pro-bowl. Currently he sits at a 62.7 completion ratio which is not too shabby. Lastly, he has over an 88 QB rating.

Do I think he is Brady or Rogers or Manning? No...but I do think the kid can manage the game. One thing we have this year is a much better running game vs the previous 2 years. Yes, we have a much better defense and an offense that is near tops in the league in scoring. That has to account for something. The guy has that "something" that people like to watch and he's only getting better (as stats show...at least in the passing game).

I hold out hope for newton

He has the tools to be great. Had really only been a big time QB one year in college. Sammy could make him great and vice versa. He does have a cannon arm.

Hes a freak of an athlete... I just think its the wiring

Nov 15, 2013, 4:13 PM

upstairs that will never let him be any better than above average. He can do things that make you think he is amazing... and then he does some of the dumbest things.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well the stats are there but I agree he is not an elite QB yet

Nov 15, 2013, 4:19 PM

Think if he had a manning/Rodgers/brees brain he would be scary good. But then again the panthers are allowing a staggering amount of pressures this year so maybe that has something to do with it. I think Sammy could cover 50 or 60 yards on a no nonsense go route and that cam may be one of they only guys in the NFL that could get it to him.

I love watching him play

Nov 15, 2013, 4:39 PM

Think he tries to rely on his arm strength a little more than he should. I think I would wait till he has a really #1 reciever and a middle of the pack O-line to pass a final judgement.
