Missed free throw

I don't know how many times during the night I saw the missed free throw by State with 31 seconds left and our failure to cleanly get the rebound but sleeping was not easy. PJ, Schieff and Clark were all in perfect position and the ball just seemed to come off the rim funny or they knocked themselves off balance. There is no guarantee that we would have made our free throws if we had secured the rebound but it sure would have been better than a tie up with the arrow to State and putting the ball back in Horne's hands.

So many what if’s. Putting the ball in Girard’s hands to dribble around (to get fouled) on one hand makes sense, but on the other he struggled all night with the athleticism of State. Hindsight. And that final shot should have been a stop and pop from the foul line. Taking it wildly to the hoop against their bigs was not there. And we are not Duke. We don’t get those foul calls. At the end of the day you can in hindsight blame players for lack of execution or coaches for decisions. The bottom line to me though is this team does not close games. In my opinion, as chronic as that is with our team, it just points to the culture. It is just reminiscent of Tommy’s teams not winning games we were supposed to win. Our team seems to get the “oh no here we go again feeling” every time at the end of games. Unlike some, I’m not convinced Brad is a bad X and O coach. To me it is more about confidence and culture. Even Brad looks scared to death at the end of tight games. That doesn’t instill confidence. That’s just my opinion.

Several things contributed to the loss...

Why does PJ bring the ball low after that Rebound?

Why did JG3 think he could dribble forever and make a play?

Why did ______ insert players name, take a 3 at that critical time?
Ex why didn't Josh B attack the rim vs shoot the open 3 from the corner?

Why did PJ keep shooting 3s... He was coming up short?

Why didn't Wiggins come in to play vs Horne for last play?

Why didn't Chase pull up from 4 ft innlane and drop one of backboard instead of crash in to "try" to get contact? Refs will not blow whistle unless at Duke or UNC. Clemson not getting that call ever..

Why in most of first half did Coach BB allow team to keep settling for 3pointers that we're not falling?
