Signing Day Surprises

Am I the only one who kind of misses the suspense of signing day? I am sure the coaches don't miss the drama at all.
Who was the last signing day surprise? If my memory is correct, there were almost zero indicators or crystal balls that even had us in the mix for Tristan Leigh. I remember being very surprised with that signing.

I remember when CJ Spiller picked Clemson on signing day and shocked the college football world.

I agree, I was floored at the time. It was a big one for Dabo early on. Definitely one of the program events leading up to our first Natty.

Did we know about Etienne before signing day? I know it was late in the cycle.

Last year, not involving Clemson.

Travis Hunter, considered the #1 recruit in the country had been committed to FSU for over a year. He was activiely recruiting other HS kids to come to FSU.
Signing day he signed with Jackson State. No one suspected that until signing day.

Does Zion Williamson count? Man that was one big ole gut punch. Probably should’ve used that as an excuse to fire Brownell (just kidding… sort of).

I never believed he'd sign but Brownell put on an Oscar worthy performance as the jilted coach. He was "done wrong" and continued to milk that farce for 100x what it was worth as a scapegoat (which did give the football program a rest from being CBB's #1 goto scapegoat) for anything under the sun that he is to blame.

Montravious Adams was all but a done deal to Clemson until he wasn't. I believe Wiggins was an early signing day flip and signing from LSWho.

Malachi Dupree.

2013 we thought we were in a good position for the #1 WR in the class Malachi Dupree; until LSU stepped in late.
Jerrion Ealy in 2019 class. He ended up at Ole Miss and was a shocker.
I think he was penciled in as a baseball player and perhaps in the RB rotation.
In the Malachi Dupree situation, we ended up having to "Settle" on Mike Williams(**cough**).
We will be alright!

It was Demarcus Robinson flipping to Fla that led to Mike Williams tweeting something like, “you still got me.”

LOL. I thought it was Marquez North we missed out on that prompted the Mike Williams tweet that things would be ok

Rivals and Scout ( now 247 ) had him going to Oregon literally on signing day and he chose the Tigers.

Last I checked we're ranked higher than you. But your coot education is showing and you are still confused about which numbers are higher and lower.

5* RB that was promised the first play of the game against Bama. That was a disaster. But he had a beautiful catch against Auburn in the end zone.
