Our defenses situational awareness on that particular play was astounding . From the snap every single Clemson player up front knew the deal and sealed the deal . Venables and his scheme and his ability to get the guys prepared were both masterful in that National Championship game .

I think it is #66 (Cotton?) that was slow to come around. See him just block empty space. You see Cotton pause/stutter that allowed us to get into the backfield.
Now, compare that to Simpson and how fast he gets to the edge.
But this was the tale of the game. That was just all panicked bust on Bama's part. Poorly timed and executed.... and that BV is the genius. Tua should have just dumped it to the pylon when it broke down.

He got blown out by Clelin on more than one occasion. Whereas Mitch didn't allow a sack or a pressure the entire night. Seems to me the real elite Tackle is Mitch.

griping about? They screw theirs up badly, we run it to perfection later in the game. Now THAT's funny.

I thought that's what he was referring to the entire time...which he'd be wrong. Guess he must have missed reviewing Pitt tape 2 years ago before playing us. That's where Clemson started learning how to run and defend it.

Saban and staff may have been prepared for the play if it were run to the left side and pitched with Trevor’s right hand.
But they weren’t expecting that switch and him using his left to get it done.

So, the reality is TL

Threw a TD pass with his left hand! Awesome!
Bama had no prayer on that play. Had the LB taken ETN, TL keeps and heads towards the end zone. Renfrow was open, too, so the man closest to him was the only one who could stop TL from running it in and, had he moved towards TL, it's a soft toss (right handed, naturally) to 'Big Game'.
