I'm not so sure as what does FSU offer which the SEC needs and doesn't already have?
FSU already has the Florida market in terms of fan interest and in terms of on the field play, FSU would be just another aTm trying to buy a team. The SEC already has a ton of eyeballs views so that is not a real need.
Perhaps the UVA/UNC addition would add academic prestige which is lacking in the SEC and also new areas of the country where they can dominate the news cycle thus growing more overall fan interest for their conference.

How would adding teams to a tv market add anything when folks living in those states don't give a chit about college FB and those in neighboring states don't live a chit about UNC or VA.

It's how you build a brand. If UNC and UVA were in the SEC, the newspapers and talk radio would begin talking about the conference. When the brand name teams roll in to to NC or VA there would be interest. The major outlets in florida already cover the SEC due to UF so the bump would be nominal IMO.
Frankly I am not sure where FSU is getting their TV numbers but they have been terrible for several years so I am doubtful of the data they are presenting. I am also not sure how a team who has frankly not been competitive in the ACC expects to do better in SEC.

Different state laws, different legal environment in Florida. FSU has a law school and Florida is not the place the ACC wants to tangle with legal issues.

They can't get an invite until they're officially out of the ACC, or there will be tampering and tortious interference lawsuits. I'm sure, even the case with us, that there have been plenty of conversations between people in the power positions telling them they have a place if they get out. I remember all of this from my A&M family members when they were working on getting out of the Big 12 to go to the SEC. Once they announce they're leaving, the offer will follow shortly.

and they have applied and been accepted to become members of the SEC. You don't have to be out of a conference to apply and be accepted.

They will get an invite from one or both if the big conferences. The ACC is a sinking ship. Clemson is up next the ACC is on life support
