"Little Old Clemson" Vs "Swag Clemson"
Dec 22, 2020, 10:11 AM

Well, Dabo's changed the narrative and is no longer playing the "little Old Clemson" Card. He's changed to "Swag Clemson" deliberately taunting Ryan Day and the brutal 6 game schedule.
While I've enjoyed the underdog card it's a fun being the best and letting people know what were are...Dabo must've have gotten some pointers from McKenzie Alexander..Ha Ha
Which version do you like? "Little Old Clemson" or "Swag Clemson"
As Bonus Question Which do you like? :
50's Elvis or the Las Vegas Era Elvis? Ha Ha

I had to Google the name to remember who Chad Kelly was/is. Here is what I found: Kelly was considered one of the top quarterback prospects in college football, but he was kicked off the Clemson team back in 2013 for what was ultimately described as “conduct detrimental to the team” after snapping at the coaching staff.
I prefer Little Old Clemson and young Elvis. Not Elvis Costello. Maybe Abbott and Costello. I like them. They funny.

I never was a big Elvis fan, in ANY of his incarnations.

Right or wrong, I always viewed him as the biggest commercial sell-out in music history. I still cringe when I see an "Elvis Movie-thon" advertised on TV.
Beatles Forever!
(Yes, I know Elvis was one of their heroes. But, even they admitted they were disappointed when they met him in person. John Lennon even said "It was like meeting Engelburt Humperdinck." Now THAT is a putdown!)

Elvis wasn't the sharpest knife in the draw. Col. Tom Parker was the guy who pimped Elvis out. He was a full blown carney that Elvis got screwed up with that exploited the king until he died.

I saw tons of people and Clemson fans whining about it, but I LOVE the Clemson from the Miami game and ACC title game.
It was a Clemson team showing up to dominate a game, knowing they were going to dominate, and letting the other team know about it while it was happening.
The reason I love what we have done in those 2 games vs how I feel about many teams such as Miami and the like doing it is because we did it within the rules, with no penalties, and it didn't seem to consume our focus.
I also think it took ND out of their game a little.
Specifically ND's RBs lost their cool from the start of the game. They were used to having easy running lanes and solid production.
The fact that we were shutting them down and letting them know about it really had them shaken up.
I'm sure it's because their starting RB is young, and I'm sure he will learn, but he bailed on assignments several times to try to get kill shots in pass protection while letting guys kill his QB. None of that happened with him in the first matchup.

Williams did get taken out of the game a bit, but it was Kendrick shoving his helmet down after he’d tackled him out of bounds early in the game that did it. That was dirty and DK absolutely should have been flagged for it, but the ref didn’t see it. I’m sure Dabo’s got him back in the “love shack” again this week if he saw it.

I like this "attitude" that was displayed against ND - especially Skalski and TL.
But let's be clear. It can go too far. I never ever want to be like Miami in this regard.

Dabo just isn’t playing the game. He is complete respect

for Ohio State and the quality of their team. He is expressing a complete lack of respect for putting a team that played six games at the top of the rankings. And he’s been clear about it...he thinks teams that successfully navigate the grind...especially this year...should be rewarded.
So now his team...who has practiced, prepared and lined up against an opponent 11 times this year is going up against a team that has only had to do so six times and he thinks that’s wrong.
He could play the game and drop them at 4 just to not hear about it the next two weeks but he’s putting his votes where his mouth is.

Not crazy about the "Swag Clemson" but for sure

I don't like "litte ol Clemson". There is nothing little ol about my Clemson! We have always had a big proud attitude and bold about it with no introduction needed. When you say"Little ol Clemson" it does a disservice to our history as a proud institution with a great football history. It also makes it sound like you are looking for extra credit for over coming. Well we had a great start with John Heisman, great teams in the 40's and 50" with big bowls, Then the late 70's leading to the 81 championship and Ford's great team all through the 80's. We could play with anyone in the country. So I say please stop with the "little ol"....enough already!

I think that’s partially the point of little ol’ Clemson. It’s a tongue in cheek response to the way other fan bases and media prognosticators respond to our success. The other part of it is, compared to the enrollment at a lot of the other top schools (see O-4 st. & Alabama) we are much smaller. It’s why we have IPTAY in the first place. Totally get why you find it annoying, just trying to offer some context for why Dabo and others will use it from time to time.

In case y'all have missed it over the years. Dabo says a positive thing. Media rips him apart for what he didn't say. Dabo says nothing at all. Media rips him apart for not taking a stand.
Well Dabo and his Clemson Tigers are done playing goody goody. And I love it!
Plus I honestly think he knows something about OhcryO St that even Day doesn't. And Day is playing right into his hands.
