"The timing of Meggs' decision is important because if authorities charge Winston with a felony, he will be immediately suspended and ineligible for competition under Florida State athletic department policies."

Either way, it looks like the TPD tried to sweep it under

Nov 16, 2013, 9:30 AM

the rug. The Florida State's Attorney's office was not notified till Wednesday. Was this before or after TMZ broke the story ?

Just posted about this elsewhere.

Nov 16, 2013, 9:32 AM

The TPD not reporting this story just screams of cover up. Whether it's true or not, the TPD sat on this case.

Hope it is not a coverup.

whatever goes sown this will not amount to ANYTHING!! he could rape 10 women and never be charged!also,he will play until convicted(which will never happen).. FSU will delay this for 10 years

yup..

Nov 16, 2013, 10:42 AM

also the fsu fans defending him.would be quit to crucify a random person who got accused of the same thing.sadly in society idols get free passes while ordinary joe gets thrashed by the public

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I hope FSU gets to kick Florida's ### before he is

Nov 16, 2013, 9:48 AM

suspended. Having said that, shame on the police for sweeping it undr the rug until now. Had he not played this season, we'd probably be Atlantic Division champs and headed to the ACCCG. We've been robbed of ACC championships before, see Georgia Tech playing a player in 2009 ACCCG that got their title vacated. This year's FSU game is water undr the bridge for us now so I hope they go on and kick Florida's ### and then kick Bama for the National Title.

I have no idea if Winston is guilty, but I think he will be charged and have to go through trial. As the article says, once he is charged, he is suspended. So no doubt the Police sat on it as long as they could.

Police protecting local football star - How can that be?

Nov 16, 2013, 9:52 AM

Don't believe I have ever heard of that happening before.

No we would still have lost because of the turnovers and lack of offense. We would have gotten beat on that night if Logan Thomas was their QB

This whole deal stinks

Nov 16, 2013, 9:53 AM

She waited a month before identifying her attacker? BS I could go on and on, but why bother. I remember when the media reported the news not tried to make the news. What does FitsNews have to say?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm always wary when a state attorney

Nov 16, 2013, 9:56 AM

Gets appointed to a local case. Between the massive amount of corruption and political pressure of a job like that, in a case like this, it's almost a gurantee that there is some type of agenda involved.

When it takes a year to build a case

Nov 16, 2013, 10:11 AM

It's either a very thin, difficult to prove case or something is holding up the process. He lawyered up quickly so maybe that's the reason.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What I haven't seen reported .........

Nov 16, 2013, 10:39 AM

Is that the State Attorney, Meggs, is an FSU graduate and I'm speculating that living in Tally, probably an FSU booster. He should not be handling this case. Normally here in Fla., the Governor would be asked to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate and prosecute if appropriate. So, far that has not happened! If you read how this case broke, the time lines and who unearthed it......it smells as fowl as a Coot.

Re

Nov 16, 2013, 10:52 AM

It's odd on the timing but I don't think this would effect us much. Coker is a really good QB too and would have beaten us probably just as bad the way we played that night.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

also..

Nov 16, 2013, 10:54 AM

our defense kept us in the game for a while that night.our offense is what failed us.we had quiet a few chances to get the momentum back and failed.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

TBD does not have guts

Nov 16, 2013, 10:58 AM

Either they didnt have guts to charge in first place or they didnt have guts to stand up to reporter and say we investigated and didnt find enough to charge him. Instead they chose to "cop out"

UF is the predominate Law school in FL

Nov 16, 2013, 12:08 PM

And has the more powerful boosters. My guess is that a cover-up is unlikely.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yet it's the TPD and A State Attorney that graduated FSU

Nov 16, 2013, 12:11 PM

in this so far. Whether the allegations are false or not, there's already been a cover up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Build people up to tear them down....the American way.

Nov 16, 2013, 12:17 PM

This goes one of two ways. He actually did something and deserves a charge or he didn't do anything but either way, has to now endure taunts from opposing fans and the seed of doubt about his character has been planted.
