For everyone out there thats unfamiliar with ACLs, he will not be back for the first game. Just dont want anyone to get their hopes up for something thats not going to happen. Its natural for a competitive player to try to "beat" recovery times, but unless youre superman they take a certain time frame. If he is back he will be useless. Dont count on it.

Have you ever had a torn ACL? I have, and I can tell you that him trying to play this season would be incredibly dangerous, and a second injury on an unhealed knee could end his career.

Ok. Well if Unicorns fly out of the sky and grant him one wish........
Ive torn 2 ACLs, majored in Exercise Science, and Im a CSCS. Not trying to be that guy, but that is impossible.
Id never tell him that obviously. Just wanted to inform people that may not have a clue.

What about it makes it "impossible"?

Good thing your not around the team, or atleast Chad, because what good would it be to have someone saying "yea you wont be ready by then, and if you are, youll be useless"

It's a medical fact. Would you want to take responsibility for putting this kid out there prematurely? I'd love to see him play this fall, but it's not a matter of rah-rah "positive attitude," it's a matter of medical fact and what's best for Chad. You don't seem capable of grasping that, and I'm sure with your mentality you will denounce me as a "coot." Get back on your meds.

If you have to defend yourself from being a coot

before I say anything (which I wasn't) then I think that speaks for itself.
Even if he was ready to play Aug 31, I really doubt he would play in the game unless we are up BIG.
A lot of the recovery time for an ACL injury is the mental aspect, after you injure it, and it heals fully, you still feel like its fragile. Chad doesn't seem like he will be thinking that way. From what I've heard he has already been running
and by the way, your little insult at the end there doesn't really do anything but make you look dumb.

Man I love your enthusiasam, but don't rush it. You are too valuable a player. An ACL typically takes a year to fully recover. I think it would be a big mistake for you to rush things. We are going to need you.

Oh no Im all for it. Just wanted to inform people not familiar with ACL surgery. More power to him. Id never tell him that. Just dont want 80, 000 people pissed off wondering why hes not taking snaps when were up in game 2 by 30 points. I mean game 1 haha.

I love his work ethic and determination. Hope to see him get some PT this year but don't want him to come back too soon and risk it. He's our 2014 starter in my opinion.

I've torn my ACL. It's crazy, after surgery, you can pretty much walk around normally in like 2 weeks.
Running, cutting, stop & go action, aren't happening though. That is what takes so long to come back from, and ends up taking around 9 months or so.
He should talk to Tiger alum Jarvis Jenkins. His rookie year with the Redskins, he tore his ACL in pre-season. Needless to say, he missed the entire season. JJ could probably give Chad some solid advise.

There's no possible way Chad or even Cole will be in the opener. You're kidding yourselves if you think Tajh won't be in against UGA the whole game, not unless we rack up a 24-point lead going into the fourth (which I certainly hope we do, but let's be reasonable).
Therefore, no worries about rushing him back into active duty. It'll be a few games before they put him in, if at all. It's not like our other backup isn't solid.
