Lets try to remember this is one, early in the season game. No need to go overboard one way or the other.
Bama -9
I'll predict the narrative now
Clemson wins "This is a top 15, potentially top 10 team. Would be a disaster if this teams doesn't make at least the elite 8"
Clemson Loses "Same old Clemson, team is average at best, won't be able to beat anyone good. Fire Brad. etc.
Go Tigers

Like last year I don’t care about the win loss record as long as we make the tournament. That means have enough ranked wins and wins in general to make it. I’ll make my judgement at the end of the season.

So you don't enjoy or care about the regular season as long as we make the tournament? I seem to recall under OP fans were tired of making the tournament but not being able to win a single game. Seems fans are never pleased.

I’m that way now because Ive been on the fire BB train for a few years and it should have already happened. It’s been too long since we’ve made the tournament. No other program would have still employed a less than mediocre coach this long.

Just another hater that lies about our basketball program so much they actually start to believe it. They lie and exaggerate to try and prove Brownell is a terrible coach. Weird
Below is our February record for the last few years. Kind of dumb to do just February because we play a different amount of teams in Feb every year. Here you have it folks. Tigerdrummer said it's inevitable that we will have a 4-5 game losing streak in February. We have only done that once under brownell, and it was when our best 2 players were hurt. Only 1 losing record in February in the last 6 years.
2023 - 4-4. Losing Streak of 2 games 2022 - 3-6. Losing Streak of 6 games. 2021 - 5-0 2020 - 4-4. Losing Streak of 3 games 2019 - 5-3. Losing Streak of 3 games 2018 - 4-3. Losing sreak of 3 games 2017 - 2-6. Losing streak of 3 games 2016 - 3-4. losing steak of 2 games 2015 - 3-4. Losing streak of 2 games 2014 - 4-4. Losing streak of 2 games 2013 - 1-6. This is such a classic, braindead response that i get in every instance such as this.
Step 1: Random poster throws out a ridiculous, untrue, and exaggerated statement/statistic
Step 2: i post to refute the exaggerated statement/statistics with actual numbers.
Step 3: some hater: "i wouldnt brag about those numbers, derp"

So roughly an average of a 3-game losing streak then in February instead of 4-5? You sure showed him.
2021 is obviously a glaring exception but our season was well in the tank heading into the month then and that late run essentially just got us to the .500 mark (and saved Brad's job).

Wow. And I thought we had wasted $65 Million putting lipstick on a pig there as many of the Brad Bros like to point out. But lo and behold we're batting .555 in February since. Almost up there with Brad's overall #'s here.
Let's all hope this trend continues to improve this season, yes?

Brad Brownell will have finally put the Tigers in position to challenge for not only the ACC crown but also the NCAA's top spot.
Tonight would be a nice achievement and worthy of an overreaction IMO.

We could lose the game but look decent doing it and people would be ok with it.
5 minute scoring drought?
Massive turnovers?
Only taking 3s and missing them?
6 players on the court?
People aren't ok with that.
The goal is to make the NCAAs and possibly advance. Winning enough pre-conference games is now necessary.

I was going to post something similar this morning but refrained because i knew the reaction was going to be, "already making excuses, blah blah blah"
We are capable of blowing Alabama out. They are also capable of blowing us out.
I had this game as a loss before the season, and i still would put my money on us losing. First true road game, still gelling as a team, and jack clark not being fully integrated are reasons i think this will be a tough one. That doesn't mean i am not still very high on this team, and have been even more encouraged after 5 games.
Let's hope we beat the hel! Out of them tonight!

As long as we make it competitive I will be satisfied....a win would be a bonus! It's tough to win on an opponents homecourt and they are a good team.

Seems pretty accurate.
I'm not expecting a win tonight - more hoping for a competitive game that allows the team to gel further in what should be a very intimidating environment and a quality opponent early in the season. A win would be gravy, and it would help in generating some extra attention on and enthusiasm for our boys for what lies ahead, which would be a bonus.
Avoiding bad losses for now ahead of the ACC schedule is most important for our post-season opportunities, so some of that pressure is off here tonight.
Go Tigers!

Not sure that many believing this is a game that could potentially be a loss is the same as hoping for a loss.
No need in poking anyone with continued false statements claiming folks want Clemson to lose. I would figure if we were playing badminton we would all pull for a Clemson win.

Kind of a no lose situation this early in the season. A loss doesn't really impact much and a win inspires confidence and helps the resume. If they shoot and rebound well we have a good chance.

Bama was a #1 seed last year. It's on the road. Any team in the country could go there and lose and it not be an upset. Not worried about the outcome

It matters because it’s the start of a 5 game swing, 4 on the road, that are all significantly tougher than we’ve played so far. Might be the toughest non-conference (yes, I know we’re sneaking Pitt in here) stretch Brad has faced. Our previous 5 opponents combine for an 11-18 record. Our next 5 opponents stand at 26-3. If we lose the first real challenge of the season it doesn’t really speak to this being a world betaer kind of team. The objective for this team should not be to just get into the tourney.

RPI dropped 31 places for even putting Alcorn State on our schedule. We’ll actually move back up some even if we lose tonight. Alabama’s probably a bit overrated but it is an important game if we’re supposed to believe Brad’s really got something cooking for us this year. while better than last year, the schedule hasn’t been great. RPI has our SOS at 154 which is the worst of anyone presently in the top 40. The next five games are tough and we need to come out of it 3-2 if we want to hope for much more than a limp into the tourney kind of season. Starting 0-1 would make that especially difficult especially with 4 of 5 away from home.
