Their has been a lack of development on the offensive side of the game. Rittman has got to recruit better offensive players or develop the ones he has better if this team ever wants to get over the hump.

Everyone does. No development and like last year mentally weak. This team and last years team lacked all the little things you need to be a championship team. Why in the heck the is LF trying to catch that ball when Clark is the CF with momentum going into the throw to 3rd. Girl may have tagged up anyways but that miscommunication and lack of baseball IQ led to that. Little things little things. They don’t have “it”

Same stuff new year. It’s early, but they will never make it to the WCWS until it’s fixed. If UGA had that many base runners we would have lost big.

Offense/hitting isn’t necessarily the problem. We out hit Georgia tonight. We had 13 base runners I believe. You can’t beat a good team by stranding 12 base runners. Absolutely no excuse for not bunting runners over when you have runners on 1 with no outs. When you’re coaching evenly matched teams, you have to scratch some magic out here and there and our base running doesn’t create any magic.

Good point. The problem is hitting with runners on base. With all the walks Georgia gave up tonight, you have to score more than 1 run. We need more timely hitting.

Yea Georgia had more hits with runners on . Clemson had 13 base runners & only 1 hit with runners on. That’s the difference.

True. But we both had 6 hits. If this was a one off, that's one thing. This has been a systemic problem for 2 years +. So I would disagree that offense is not the problem. We haven't had much offense past the 4 hole. Occasionally they get walks, Occasionally they get hbp or on base via error but not much power.
This team wanted to be a Texas, Washington, or Oklahoma, Bama, fsu type hitting team.
Now this year it's going to be a problem because we're having problems with average teams and our pitching hasn't been good yet. Not like last year.

Yes it does. I'll gladly have a discussion with anyone. This one hurts. We're all hurting. Yes, UGA is a top 10 team. UGA is a good hitting team. They have good, not great pitchers. We had 10 freebies...
The first 2 pitchers beat va tech 7-5. Tech was given 2, yes 2 freebies. Walk and hit batter. Tech had 8 hits and 3 were homruns. The hitting was pretty spread throughout the order. Tech is Not the only team to do this to uga this year.
We all know Val can hit. She's been off this year. Could be self inflicted pressure. She's prone to that. And her goal is 72 hr which she really really wants. So is she just trying to swing too hsrd? Idk. It's something.
We certainly went down on transfers this year from the one's last year we had.
Got the sads as skeeta56 would say. If this was a one off, that's acceptable. But it isn't. Bama will crush the uga pitchers and probably Florida. They'll be high score games. We can't seem to with the 8-7 games.
But we're all pulling for them and love them. So no need to get mad with posts. Love you guys and gals.

I thnk (hope) that we are better hitters than we showed last night, but I don't think we are nearly good enough to play with the elite teams. They have not been real good against good pitching all year. Just about all of them can hit the ball over the fence, but none, except Cagle can do it with any consistency and Valerie isn' putting the pop in the ball like last year. We can't have Valerie on the mound and lose games where the opponents score one or two runs. We have to give her more support.
Right now, I think we will have a nice season and I suspect we may make it to a super regional, but I don't think this is the year for us. I hope I am totally wrong.

Yes Sir. It feels a lot like this past season in football where the expectations were extremely high. I thought for sure we'd bring in a couple guimbardi's type hitters in the off-season.
I posted in another thread. We've played 3 t25 (currently) ranked teams. 5 runs total and only 3 were earned. But the biggest concern is our offense numbers are extremely highly skewed by 3 games against really bad teams. Ole miss gifted us several runs... and I think they'll finish in the lower half of the sec.
I, too hope you are wrong but the trend, and history shows otherwise. The recruiting looks good on paper but, again, even with our upperclassmen, it points to a developmental problem. Sadly.
