Huge increases in disability benefits, and also in time lost from work due to disability, among working people in the US. The increase is minimal among those "not employed", as they are already getting disability, or otherwise have found a way to subsist. But the numbers from working people is a staggering number. We're talking 11 standard deviations here. Similar trends have been noted in the UK and other developed nations.
You can argue it's vaccines, or the virus, or liberals (who have not done anything new to promote this) but it is a very real thing, regardless of the cause.

People are increasingly gaming the system and increasingly are unashamed of doing so. When I was still working, I had patients get angry for not writing them a letter supporting their unsupportable claim of a disability and even ask for a letter supporting handicapped parking when they were able bodied.
The VA is maddening how they hand out service connected disability money for some really trivial stuff and then on the other hand deny a deserving veteran his or her valid claim.
My wife's brother was a chemical engineer but punched out years before retirement age on disability for hearing loss. He truly does have a hearing deficit, wears hearing aids, but is fully capable of conversing on the phone ad nauseam and engaging in conversation. Nonetheless, he punched out, collected his check and merrily ran multiple rental properties wherein he could miraculously communicate with his tenants.
Perhaps it's got something to do with long COVID, but if the safety net is wide, I think a lot of folks have no qualms about sitting on their ### and taking a check.
Sadly, there are many deserving folks who need aid and I remember one in particular, injured on the job, that I had to testify that he was in no way faking his injuries. He had to fight like hell to get what was due to him from a terrible job related accident.
I'm gonna vote that as a collective, we're more selfish, more into me and not afraid of any stigma that used to be associated with idleness.

Walgreens pharmacy is closed for an HOUR in the middle of every day for the pharmacists "lunch break". When did THAT become a thing?
It is interesting though, the high-labor industries are seeing the greatest inflation. Construction, mining, oil drilling, etc. BIL has a 3 bedroom house. He's adding a bedroom, and remodeling one bathroom to serve two bedrooms. For that he will pay what he paid in 2013 for the entire house/lot/everything.

COVID introduced people to the concept of being paid to sit at home and "work". Now that they can't use that as an excuse they are coming up with alternate ways to achieve the same lifestyle.

He said he hurt his back as a policeman. It doesn't seem to slow him from owning TWO newer F-250 diesel trucks, and doing noisy stuff in his yard all day with grinders and saws.
I understand his wife is also on disability, so I guess together they are doing pretty well.
I'm kinds tired of the corporate BS..maybe I need to look into this disability thing.

Last week, I saw a guy with a handicap sticker pull up at the tennis center. Parked in the handicap spot right at the front door. He got out of his car, got his tennis bag out of the trunk and went inside and played tennis for 2 hours. Come on man!
