Interesting quote from Dabo in the press conference.....

Dabo said in the second video, "I love to throw the ball around more than anyone, but tonight I said "no" more than I ever had". Just digging a bit at his involvement in the play calling. In the TOs during the game, it was interesting to watch the interaction between Dabo and Riley and it always seems to be Dabo in the middle of the guys.
Its Dabos program, and the head coach is the final say for everything, but I am very curious to see what changes he makes to the offensive staff this off-season. I think Riley is a great hire, and I think he will do well and progress Cade along, but we shall see. We will get a great test very early next season vs UGA.
Also very interested to see what improvements the offense can make this next month with a lot of the guys coming back possibly for the bowl game at WR that have been out most of the year.

If Dabo vetoed pass plays last night he probably won that game for us.

I thought we threw the ball too much last night....so if this is true, hats off to Dabo for putting a stop to it.

We definitely threw too much. 2nd year in a row of poor passing performances in this game when a good rushing attack was all that was needed.

We averaged 4.8 ypc last night....a couple of times we threw on 1st down when it was clear nobody could get open with the 3-3-5 the coots were playing. Made no sense.

That stood out to me too. Wonder how Riley handles that. In any business you see supervisors get very frustrated when feel like micromanaged by a superior. All maybe good but just curious how Riley really feels about it. I guess those millions easy a lot of any angst

I guarantee he was micromanaged under Sonny Dykes, one

of the great offensive minds in college football. No way Dykes handed it over without being heavily involved. Says nothing about whether he and Dabo’s personalities match or not in that process, but to think he had free rein then came here and was micromanaged and he hasn’t dealt with that before is disingenuous.

It was a bit surprising about hesitating on passing - however - he has been

…snake bitten over turnovers the entire season, so I can see why he may have been so cautious.
One pick-6 or interception in your own territory would have been like pouring gas on a fire in that environment.
CDS just took a position to allow the Clemson defense to dictate the Tigers offensive strategy.
After what the team went through this last week, CDS did the right thing in managing this team to a victory. No need for “style points” last night, just win.
I was quite confused as to what I was seeing last night offensively, until I got the full picture from CDS’ post-game presser.

I firmly believe that when Dabo approached Garret about the OC position that they had a conversation of what he would be expected to do, allowed to do and what freedoms he would have. He evidently was onboard with what Dabo explained because he took the position. He knew what he was walking in to and he also knew what the long term plans were.
Also, people seem to gloss over the fact that Dabo said he vetoed several calls last night - that means that Garret was making the calls, he just overruled for reasons. Garret has been calling the plays all year with input from Dabo, anyone who believes otherwise is being disingenuous. Garret didn't come to Clemson to get micromanaged and to basically be a parrot, he was in high demand.
Trust Dabo, trust Riley and trust their process. We'll know more after the season and next year when we see what changes are made.

This is an accurate post, but you ruined it at the end saying, "trust Dabo." It's going nothing to do with trust. It's simply accepting reality. The reality is that every coach in the country has input into the plays that are called.
