for NFL play. He simply has too much yet to work on in playing college ball for another year. He must do all of the following: 1. Run more consistently for more yardage per game with many more 100 plus yardage games. 2. He must improve significantly his rushing yardage total for a whole season. 3. He must become fumble-free and dispel all claims that he is fumble prone. 4. He must improve his reliability in the passing game. 5. He must demonstrate an improved blocking game.

The NFL is a speed and size equation for Shipley

Ship has the heart and desire. We can all agree on that. What’s his 40-yard dash and quickness drill times? Is he 6’0” 215 lbs or 5’10” 191 lbs?
Ship has had plenty of time and reps to demonstrate his skill sets. He is a smart guy. He can make his own decision and likely already has.

His vision and footwork/balance are his biggest issues. He’s demonstrated pass catching ability which is a must for him to be a 3rd down situational RB. The top end speed and acceleration aren’t elite and won’t change so he needs to show better instincts to find the holes and make defenders miss.
I was watching Oregon State’s Martinez Saturday. You know Sunday talent when you see it. That guy is a sophomore and has it all day. His vision and agility to cut back and accelerate are excellent. Shipley or Mafah are no where close to that level of talent.
It would be best for Shipley to find another college program where the offense fits his skills, they have a solid Oline, and take advantage of another coach guiding him to improve. He could likely achieve the above while also getting another year of good NIL money. Then see where he stands in the draft. Right now he probably ends up a UDFA. Certainly not great money and unlikely to crack a 53 man roster.

RB’s have NFL speed, vision, balance and running ability or do not. NFL scouts and the combine will tell Ship all he needs to know.

Will Shipley will leave Clemson as one of the most productive RB ever. Multiple times He carried the team! I just don’t get all the hate for Shipley.
And you are wrong if He decides to go He will be drafted and He will play.

It is not hate to point out that RBs are devalued in the NFL - and Shipley is not in the Top 50 most productive backs in the NCAA this year.

Well thanks for an actual conversation. Maybe He is not in the top 50 but how many of the top 50 split time equally with another running back.
I have seen people hate on Shipley all this year and just point out all the negative or perceived negative about Ship and actually the entire team.

He's a very good player but he's undersized, injury prone, has a fumbling issue and doesn't have the speed you'd expect him to have. He'll definitely get drafted but I'd be surprised if it was before the third day. Can't blame him for pursuing his dream though.

If he lands at a college team where they generate a clean gap consistently, he could finally develop his technique in the open field. At Clemson he’s dancing and pounding his way to 4 or 5 yds on a good run play or going wide for 7 or 8 yds as Cade’s check down receiver. Not a bad performance and he gives great effort. Great attributes for a college running back, but nothing to excite an NFL team.
I still think playing somewhere else that fits his game is his best option for his future pro opportunities. The fumble issues seem to be Coach Spiller related. Mafah carries the ball loose on short yardage as well. Was doing again on the last series on Saturday.

He runs a4.42 that is fast! Injury prone? You need to see how many games he has missed in his career. It’s football and everyone is injury prone. He is not undersized He is the same size as most running backs.

Lol scouts are going to watch tape from his career and be in awe of what he accomplished while being the player defenses were keyed up on. How many coaches do you remember saying Clemson goes as Shipley goes? Almost all of them. He had a rough year between the blocking scheme change(thankfully they went back) and a few fumbles but his CAREER is impressive. I'd wager he's a 3rd round maybe 4th round pick.

How fast was Feaster? Shipley is more versatile, but certainly he’s not straight line quicker than Feaster. How many times has Will pulled away from a defense where it wasn’t more about how out of position they were to catch him?

Shipley is significantly better and has been way more productive than Feaster. I'm going to guess Shipley runs a high 4.4 or a low 4.5. He gets caught alot bc it takes a few seconds for him to find space, I will admit this is where Mafah shines.
Imo Shipley comp is Aaron Jones, a versatile back that can be on the field all downs but not necessarily the best between the tackles runner.
Mafah comp would be Leveon Bell, a patient back with great vision and feel for when and where to hit the gas pedal.

Recently Shipley has been cutting it to open space and before the ND game neither back did that. Mahfa started it in the ND game. Now was it the blocking scheme or was it they were being to told to wait on the hole(?) that never developed.
Shipley has never had much balance if he gets hit below the knees (a lot of shoestring tackles) but plays with great heart and energy. My guess is he will leave Clemson either way if he is projected in the first 2 rounds, or if we don't come up with additional NIL money, because some team will and he will probably take the money to replace NFL money he want get next year.
