Wrestling won the traditional team SC championship yesterday. Liberty had 8 wrestlers qualify for the championship Saturday.
4 individual State Champions!
Tough loss in the Upperstate Championship to eventual State Winner Chesnee.

My son graduated from Liberty in 2018 - Clemson in 2022. He wrestled for Liberty.
My daughter is a junior at Liberty. She is the wrestling team manager.

Indeed! The kid he wrestled was from Catawba ridge in fort mill. Coaches are collegiate all Americans and the kid only lost once all year. With over 150 wins for his career

Traditionally the state championships were decide by earned points from how individual state qualifiers from each team did at state. They went to a team duals format in more recent years, but still calculate the traditional number scores for each team, but the recognized team state championship is the duals champion.

Also they have changed formats over the years. Back when I wrestled there were only 2 classes for state. 1A, 2A and 3A were all combined to determine a state champion with a separate 4A division. That was one tough tournament. I think the combined class was harder than 4A in many classes back in those days. Now I think they separate all classes.

Except 2A-1A b/c # of schools in that class (1A had enough in late 2000s-early 2010s to hold a separate dual playoff but traditional/individuals were still combined).
Official state championships are all decided by dual match playoffs now. Some states award dual & traditional state championships, SC isn't 1 of them.
