If those who want to remain in the ACC want Stanford/Cal

as members, they should push the conference to agree to waive/reduce the exit fees for those who want to leave in exchange for them voting to add Stanford/CA/SMU to bolster what will be left of the ACC. We'd still have to pay off the GOR but at least this is a scenario that gives everyone something to like.

If the schools in the ACC looked out for the benefit of each other vs only themselves, we wouldn't be in this situation. They will see the ACC dissolve before they let us out. Plus, if they let us out, couldn't anyone get out afterwards and use the fact they let us out in court to demand equal treatment?

Potentially yes, but only a handful of teams are going to be attractive to the SEC/B1G and after that, there are no other conferences that look that much better than the ACC other than maybe the Big 12-20.

Either way, these schools will still have to deal with the GOR and only a handful of those programs have the wherewithal to potentially buy themselves out.

Nobody needs to convince the ACC of anything. Each school has one vote and "the ACC" has none.

A distinction without a difference...
