If it is offensive

For a fan to imply a Coach should be doing better for his salary should fans be offended when a coach won't slam the door hard on other potential jobs during recruiting season? Does that work both ways?

Coach, questioning his salary justification, as rude, out-of-line, crass in fact and certainly not the thinking of an overwhelming majority of our Clemson family.
It came across as a smug, know-it-all confrontation generated by someone seeking 15 minutes of fame and deserved the harsh responses it received.
Now, I wouldn't expect any coach to slam the door hard on any suggestions on a job offer UNTIL he received the offer. The same makes sense in the business world of which I've been a part, mostly as an employer, for 50 years.
Hence, to me the two matters differ in content and overall scope, which makes it hard to co-relate.

I agree. I wouldn't have done it.

Think of it like this…do you slam the door hard in companies who may reach out to you for interest in jobs? Why would you act unprofessionally and purposefully burn bridges and slam windows and doors that could lead to potential future opportunities. Dabo is not a dumass. That is something a dumass wood due.

I don't disagree but I do think if you're that practical about money then you ought to be practical in your hiring practices and approach to the portal. He says he's "purpose driven not outcome driven" but the same doesn't apply when money is involved.

to be "offended" by either parties "questions/comments/statements"
the way the caller "questioned" Dabo's salary was ridiculous..........why get offended??
Dabo answered the question of the TAMU job the way most all coaches answer those questions.......why get offended??
I know it's all hypothetical talk......and it's interesting to discuss, but there is NO WAY ON EARTH Dabo goes to TAMU.

If you substitute upset for offend, then (imo) I would say yes to all.

As absurd as it might seem to some on here, coaches not slamming the door

on possible other job opportunities is a time honored tactic that often brings raises and contract extensions their way. Tommy Bowden feinted a move to Arkansas to get a raise and an extension. Bimbo just did the same thing a couple of years ago, hinting that he might jump ship to LSU before they hired Brian Kelly. Now, A&M wishes they had just let hi go, THEN.
If the BOT gave Dabo a raise or an extension at this time, some keyboards would MELT on Tigernet!

Dabo's contract and salary is in the open for all to see and we know what he has done for Clemson University and the surrounding area.
Do you earn your pay? What have you done to enhance your business or place of work?
