I need advice from the married men on TNET

My wife is hungry and wants us to go out to dinner tonight (we had to skip lunch today). The BBall game is on at 5:00 pm.
Now those married folk on here that there is no frickin way my wife will let me sit in front of the computer screen and watch the Duke game (I am in the country Colombia, so it's not on TV).
What advice can you guys give me to help me delay getting in the taxi?

Tell her you are ordering her a Michael Kors purse but really you will be on your phone watching the game.
When it is time to give her the purse, tell her it got lost in the mail and the USPS is investigating your claim. It buys you time to really order one later.

Loves Clemson where she grad from (and the Gators where I went to school--I grew up a Tiger fan).
I don't have this issue; many times we sit at bars so we can watch sports and usually get better service. I had a guy at a UF/LSU tailgate one time ask me how I got my wife to attend so many games when most wives won't do that...and I said we just enjoy hanging with each other and she enjoys the games as well. I guess I'm lucky that way....
As far as your situation....I know this prob. won't work...but just be honest and say you really want to see this game and ask if its OK if you keep an eye on the game (on the computer) while at dinner. Maybe my situation is different, but I find cutting through the games and just being upfront usually gets me what I want faster without the entanglements... Plus if you are able to get her to be OK with it now, it'll help in the future when you need to do this again. I got a buddy in Jax whose wife literally makes him do "honey-do lists" just to attend games. Hard for me to watch him dictated to like that. Sorry for ramble..
