I just looked at the 1948 Clemson football

sched. To the best of my memory, that was the first year my dad could afford to start taking me to the games. Clemson was in the Southern Conference. They were undefeated and won the Gator Bowl beating Missouri of the Big 7 24-23. Among the teams they beat that year were Auburn, Miss. State, Boston College , and of course South Carolina. I was 10 years old. My dad died 2 years later. pretty much dashing any chance I could ever go to college. I later worked for the Clemson athletic department for approximately 10 years, broadcasting many events and being the football and basketball PA announcer
so I feel I am a part.

My dad graduated in '49! And my son is now a 3rd generation tiger.

I was only four when we won our first Natty so I don't remember it. My old man and I watched games my whole life. Even on road games in my 20s my friends knew not to ask if I were going out to watch because they knew I'd be watching with him. He passed away June 2016. When we won that next January I watched the game by myself and when the clock read zeros I looked up and said "I wish you were here".
It's a special connection and one you never forget. Thanks for sharing those memories.
