Path to National Championship Game

Nov 3, 2013, 9:09 PM

Here's the miracle we need.

1. Win out
2. Ohio State loss. @ Michigan and the BIGCG against Michigan State are there only real chances.
3. Baylor loss. They have 5 tough games left so this is likely.
4. Oregon loses 2. @ Stanford, Oregon State, and the PacCG are possibilities.
5. Stanford loses 1 more. @ USC, ND, and PacCG are options.
6. South Carolina wins the SEC. So we need Missouri and Georgia to both lose 1 more.

This would set us up for a rematch with FSU in all likelihood.

Oregon is not losing 2 and Suck u ain't winning the SEC. Would love to see it happen but it won't.

Re: Path to National Championship Game

Yeah actually we don't need South Carolina to win the SEC. Although that would work. We just need the SEC winner to have 2+ losses with every SEC team with 2 losses. So Alabama losing to LSU and Auburn but winning the conference would work. South Carolina or Georgia beating an undefeated Alabama in the SECCG would jump us over Bama,

We would get passed over by a one loss Bama.***

If Alabama lost to South Carolina (a team we would have just beaten on the road), we would definitely move ahead of them.

I doubt it.***

I think we will with Boyd back in groove, when he is in the zone like at Lsu, Ga and Va, I think we are almost unbeatable! GO TIGERS!

Oregon doesn't need to lose 2

Nov 3, 2013, 9:17 PM

Oregon just needs to lose one at the right time. If the other things in your scenario happen and Oregon loses to Oregon State in their last game of the season or if they lose the PacCG, we would pass them. We would be right behind them and there is no way the voters don't drop a team that just lost a game at least one spot (at least not a non-SEC team).

Re: Oregon doesn't need to lose 2

Nov 3, 2013, 9:25 PM

There certainly is a chance we could jump a 1 loss Oregon. But its not likely in my opinion. If the loss is to Oregon State lets look at the whole picture.

They would be 12-1 and conference champs. Voters give you a conference champion boost. We would be 11-1. We would have quality wins against South Carolina (10-15 in the BCS) and maybe Georgia (20-25 in the BCS if we are lucky). They would have wins over Stanford, UCLA, PacCG. And the Pac is likely the strongest conference this year.

The fact that our only loss is versus number 1 would help but we got blown out at home. And voters don't like rematches.

nice work but no one is giving us a rematch with FSU. that ship has sailed.

Re: Path to National Championship Game

Nov 3, 2013, 9:28 PM

Which is why we need so many things to happen. In my scenario though, we are in. Who else are they going to throw in front of us? Not an SEC team because we beat the champion. Big 12 is weak this year. I guess Oklahoma or Okie State could potentially jump us if they have 1 loss. But those teams are probably losing again anyway. And Texas could win the conference. 1 loss Michigan State?

I just don't see the voters allowing a Clemson-FSU rematch

in the title game, regardless of what happens between now and then.

I am not sure if I could stomach the DIRTPECKERS winning

Nov 3, 2013, 9:46 PM

the SEC to maybe get a shot at the NC game. Even if we win a NC we would have to hear that winning the SEC is waaaaaaay more important than winning a NC. I do not know, I will have to seriously think about that. I know someone will say no way NC is the best but when your rivals fan base has a collective IQ of 30 something, well ya know.

Well if you honestly think that it shows you are first and foremost a South Carolina hater and secondly a Clemson fan. If Clemson fandom is your first priority you would realize how dumb that thought process is.

After

Nov 3, 2013, 10:04 PM

Bama lsu rematch debacle you won't see it again. Lsu beat Bama at their place in a borefest, only to have Bama smoke them in the title game, even more of a boring game.

So could we beat fsu in a rematch this year? Maybe, but we won't get the chance.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If that happens I'm asking Kate to the game.

Nov 4, 2013, 6:30 AM

She can buy a jet and pick me up in Chattanooga. We could fly to Paris for breakfast after Clemson beats FSU by shutting Famous down.

Heck, I'd probably just move in with her if she'd buy a place in the Mountains for a summer home.
