I’ve been given the opportunity to be in the box during our games. Of course I’d have a headset, and would be in direct contact with the head coach at all times. At first I thought this might be a bad idea but then I got to thinking…
Imagine at halftime, coming out of that box, headset still on. The fans can almost touch you, no fence, no security, just you and maybe one or two others wearing the blue and red. So close they can get a feel for the game based on the expression on your face as you pass, headed down those bleachers. Random dad yells out “Way to go coach!” while his wife hits him on the leg, telling him to be quiet, but never shifting her gaze away from you. They can’t hear what you are thinking, but they can see the gears in motion as you process what must be done next. This is JV football.

Not sure if you are aware, but I am the DL coach, and am now also co-OL coach. So I’m in charge of DTs, DEs, OGs, OTs, centers, and TEs. I’m as close to a coordinator as you can get.
