UNC did it last year too. What did that do for them that Clemson experienced last season? Saving themselves from a program embarasing loss...

It’s a chance to continue practicing and playing. It’s an opportunity to be on TV.

I get it, it’s not the NCAA Tournament, but it’s a MUCH better tournament than it used to be.

It wasn’t long ago when high major teams simply needed to be .500 overall to get in. Now, you see plenty of solid high major teams not getting in.

Players don't want to play in it. They know it doesn't mean as much, and if they were playing to get in the NCAA and just missed... They don't want to play in it. Most schools and I'm sure you know ask the players if they want to accept the invite.

Yeah, like it helped the Tigers last season vs Morehead State.

Players don't want to play in it because they know at the end of the day, you're playing for 65th place.

It's a consolation prize for a "pretty good season" and I don't blame them for opting out. It's akin to playing in the Birmingham, Liberty, Pinstripe, Little Caesars, Potato, or Independence Bowl.
