They were banking on Clemson vs Alabama, which always provides blockbuster ratings. With Ohio State sneaking by Clemson and getting in, well, the writing is on the wall. I’m just glad I don’t work for ESPN, this third round of layoffs could be bad.

certainly take his word for it. The worst part for the networks is that everyone knows OSU is gonna get blown out in that game that people just won't watch it. On the bright side, some 3rd world countries are gonna love getting their OSU national championship swag.

there are only so many people you can fit into the Akron Best Buy, "shopping for TVs", when they gotta keep six feet away from each other. That is not a lot of viewers to sell stuff to.

Networks are banking on ACC/SEC matchups for survival. I read an article about it 5-6 years ago, which mentioned we could expect northern schools to slowly start moving away from football. I enjoyed the writer’s pun.

it is not so much that the northern schools are moving away from football, it is that all the people from Ohio are fleeing the state.

Ohio State draws ratings unlike any other team. You must be smoking that meth that you claim Ohioans are on.

The B1G Championship game, featuring Ohio State, had 8.66 million viewers this year, DOWN 33% in viewership from last year.
The ACC Championship game, featuring Clemson, had nearly 10 million viewers this year, UP 149% in viewers from last year. In fact, the ACC Championship game was the most watched conference championship game of the entire year.
You can point to some game nearly 10 years ago as evidence of Ohio State’s ratings relevance, but the current numbers just don’t lie. Feel free to fact check me on this.

You think just maybe that has something to do with you guys playing ND, a traditional power with a huge draw, while OSU played NW? Nah, couldn’t be. I hoped you were being sarcastic from the jump, but you’ve now doubled down. The ratings for the game next week will be off the charts

for all the marbles in the Rose Bowl. The PAC12 can’t even make the playoffs and the B1G has resorted to changing the rules to qualify. Heck, the Rose Bowl isn’t even in California anymore, they moved it to the south, where football is still king.

Those rules changes they had done, clearly showed up when they finally had to play somebody. The fcknuts surely looked to have the fresher rested players. I guess that is one of the pluses overlooked by my self, and I'm sure by many bc, those guys looked like they could have played again today, no doubt by changing the rules gave major benefits to the fcknuts!!!

You’re in denial. The National Championship Game regardless of who plays, always provides good ratings. Alabama and Georgia had better ratings than any of the Bama Clemson games. And OSU v Oregon got the best so far of any CFP championships, I think.
People are tired of Clemson and Alabama, and if we don’t make changes we are VERRRRRYYYYY close to getting the PAC 12 treatment. We’ve now been embarrassed in 2 straight postseason games. I doubt we jump an undefeated team like Cincinnati next year with 1 loss.

Hey, that's one more person to help my wish that ESECPN goes under, the sooner the better, I'm on the down side of my life, and I would be really happy to see them fold before I'm cremated!!! Heck, I would be OK if the rag or the mag that story comes out in, if it was cremated along with me!!!

That show how different people feel about different things bc I feel nothing that would constitute any bad feeling for ESECPN. One of my biggest hopes before I leave the world of the living, and that is I hope for ESECPN to go completely under so deep, that they will have to sell off all their Pens and Pencils just to pay someone what was owed to them, and they come up way short of that debt!!! Hopefully the next huge sports network that would take over the majority of sports programing, that it would be demanded that their employees to be courteous, respectful, and with manners towards all coaches, player and the sport fans, without those Three, there wouldn't be a need for sports broadcasting, and that is what ESECPN has never understood, and I do hope, and even pray that they all lose it all, and they would be well deserving of the hardship that going under would cause them all!!!!
Sometimes, making the bigger bucks causes forgetfulness, they forget where the money is coming from that allows them to have the lives that they have, and it's better than a lot of folks have, that works a lot harder for what they have!!!

Here is a link from the 2019 season, which was a normal year. As usual, OSU was the general ratings leader over the course of a season.
"The Nov. 9 game between LSU and Alabama on CBS was the most watched game of the regular season with 16,729,000 viewers. Top Ten for viewership (P2+) also included LSU-Georgia (Dec. 7 on CBS) with 13,703,000; Ohio State-Wisconsin (Dec. 7 on FOX) with 13,642,000; Ohio State-Michigan (Nov. 30 on FOX) with 12,501,000; Alabama-Auburn (Nov. 30 on CBS) with 11,505,000; Penn State-Ohio State (Nov. 23 on FOX) with 9,425,000; Notre Dame-Georgia (Sept. 21 on CBS) with 9,287,000; Baylor-Oklahoma (Dec. 7 on ABC) with 8,700,000; LSU-Texas (Sept. 7 on ABC) with 8,633,000; and Army-Navy (Dec. 14 on CBS) with 7,716,000 viewers. The top five games all eclipsed the 10 million viewer mark and all of the top 12 exceeded seven million viewers each. A total of 33 regular season games had more than five million viewers, seven more than the 2018 season.??????? Eight teams played in three or more games ranked in the Top 25 for viewership: Ohio State (6), LSU (5), Auburn (4), Oklahoma (4), Florida (3), Georgia (3), Michigan (3) and Penn State (3)." https://footballfoundation.org/news/2020"/5/27/2019_Attendance_and_Ratings.aspx#:~:text=Top%20Ratings%20Highlights%20from%20the%202019-20%20College%20Football,reaching%20more%20than%20145%20million%20unique%20fans%20%E2%80%A0
OSU v Alabama is close to the best match up that can be imagined, maybe other than OSU v Notre Dame.
