planned their attack on the Capitol building?
"In the weeks leading up to the January 6 rally, the FBI worked internally with every FBI field office to ensure they were looking for any intelligence they may have developed about potential violence during the rally on January 6. We developed some intelligence that a number of individuals were planning to travel to the D.C. area with intentions to cause violence.
We immediately shared that information and action was taken, as demonstrated by the arrest of Enrique Tarrio by the Metropolitan Police Department the night before the rally. Other individuals were identified in other parts of the country and their travel subsequently disrupted..."

What do you think would have happened...

If, before Jan. 6 and when Trump found out about the rally, he had gone public and said, "There's no need for you to be here. The election process is going to play out. This is democracy playing out. Please stay home."
Instead of scheduling time to speak to them to get them more fired up and setting up a tailgating tent to watch the festivities?
Do you think the raid on the Capitol would have still happened?

He wanted them there to support him

most where there to support him. Some were there to do damage and cause mayhem. That is what happened. Some listened to the speech, cheered and went about sight seeing and hanging out. Some went to the Capital and broke windows, got shot at and are now being arrested.
There is no reason for him to tell people to stay home. He wanted to hold a rally for his cause and he did, there isnt anything illegal about that happening. Is it bad optics, sure, but all Presidents seem to become blind once they get into office.

I'm not questioning the legality. I'm questioning why. Why does he need the rally?
While I recognize most people there remained people, we know WHY they were there, and you've said you would have gone for the same reason: Y'all think he actually won the election.
Also, anyone who makes plans to go to a public rally in DC to support a president who has just lost an election yet refuses to concede needs to sit down and reevaluate his life.

You keep looking at one speech (and one word) when there were myriad Presidential overtures to these events. You MAY be fooling yourself, but tens of millions of Americans see this completely differently. What do you say to them ??
