Thanks for posting, I really don’t believe there is a rush to do anything. Especially with the twelve team playoff coming next season. The GOR espn has with the ACC teams is outrageous. Its a crappy deal all around.

Of course they should stay in the ACC and that will be obvious in the Orange Bowl. The ACC is a great conference but still has a ways to go to be a football conference. Stay in the conference get better and kick sand in the other conference's faces.

This. 1,000x this. All this hand-wringing about something that may never happen is hilarious.

We beat ourselves and lose to them once in double OT and they say we aren’t “looking so formidable these days”. Everyone/everything all at once syndrome.

I hope they keep underestimating the Tigers

They are not considering all of the changes that are taking place. That's OK. We do our best work as underdogs.
I'm thankful that Clemson has kept relatively quiet about leaving the conference. FSU always gives off vibes that they are entitled. Not a good look.

I think the path to the playoffs is better for a dominant program in the ACC than for another solid team in one of the “Big Two”.
And I am still thinking that eventually college football will adopt a structure independent of conferences, which will leave a lot of buyer’s remorse for the teams that have jumped conferences as well as the conferences that have added them.

Which is an easier path to the playoffs?

1. Win the ACC 2. Finish 6th in the SEC

As of now it may appear the ACC is still a good option....

But it will absolutely not be easier to make the CFP in the ACC once the "Power Two" takeover. You will be able to go 9-3 in the SEC and B1G while having to win the ACC to make it in. The schedule may be easier, but the room for error will be slim to none. MAYBE every now and then a 11-2 or 12-1 ACC runner up may be able to sneak in, but 3-4 SEC/B1G will be in every year.
That on top of the much less exciting matchups and massive money loss we will have compared to our rivals in the SEC. Staying is not an option for Clemson or FSU.

Yea, right. If someone came offering me ~$100 million a year, I'm going to tell

them NO, YOU MADE ME MAD, and take my toys and go back home to the ACC and continue to make half that much a year. SURE, FSU would turn it down if offered.
What a great time to be a journalist. You don't need facts, and you don't even have to make any sense whatsoever. Just jot something down on electronic paper and get paid for it. I picked the wrong career, being an engineer. "I coulda been a CONTENDA!"

Its about $$$. If the ACC cant guarantee the money. Time to go. It is an easier conference, but the money is the issue.

This is about getting left in the dust financially. That money gap puts ACC schools at a disadvantage across aspects far beyond the gridiron. By the way, that playoff spot wont look so sparkly when you get smashed by 30+ every time because the Big and SEC reps have rosters you cant dream of fielding in the ACC.

His article starts with a false premise.

******* It’s not. The playoff will be replaced next season with a 12-team format that guarantees automatic bids for the five-best conference champions. *******
That is true for two more years, at best. Then current contract ends and the playoff format will be renegotiated. No one knows what the new format will be. But, the writer is assuming that it will still include the ACC Champ getting an automatic bid.
I maintain that assumption is false. I may be wrong, but in any case you cannot accept it as a fact (premise) that the ACC Champ will automatically be in the playoff.
Second problem is he omits an important reason to get out of the ACC and into the P2. In fact, he omits 40,000,000 reasons.
