For the NFL Haters Out There Wishing the Worst for the NFL...

America loves football. The Tom Brady Buccaneers vs. Drew Brees Saints was the most watched NFL regular season game in 4 years last night. Sorry Haters.

it had the most viewers of a
1) Fox NFL game in 2) week 1.
in 4 years.
Pretty selective filtering. Not "the most watched NFL regular season game in 4 years." I wonder why he would feel the need to exaggerate and misrepresent the truth? It's pretty understandable why people would be interested in seeing how Tom Brady does with another team. That novelty is done now.

I will watch grass grow and watch football. It's nice to feel free. Anyway, enjoy your boycott. It will keep you warm on a cold Sunday in November.

The NFL is much to popular with Americans to go away. Most of the teams are located in big cities and will have a home following. I don’t believe mainstream America will put a great deal of importance on the reactions of a few players. This country isn’t completely filled with hate as some suggests.

Most watched game in 4 years. People wants great matchups. Pretty awesome considering no fans at the game. NFL is killing it. Not to mention the NFL Draft was the most watched draft in NFL history this past year. Sorry. Sports are great.

Not arguing one side or the other here, a serious question:
Sep 14, 2020, 4:18 PM
|

If ratings are down dramatically across the board, with the Sunday night game being down 20-ish%, how is a high rating of Brady's first game with a new team counter to that, one game vs the league? I am sure you were serious when you said the NFL is killing it, and I am asking what you meant by that.

One way for the NFL to get more viewers is to launch a streaming service like the MLB has. Someway you can stream the games on your phone. Because if I want to watch the Texans I can’t unless they just happen to be on the local channels that week. Usually only if they aren’t playing at the same time as Carolina or Atlanta. Sure they have the nfl Sunday ticket thing. But that’s only for dish I believe right? And not to mention it’s expensive. Lower the price and you get more viewers. But I guess people to buy it if they haven’t changed anything, so what do I know

The ratings posted are early ratings not counting the west coast audience yet. The ratings still may be down but only like 5-10%.

Yeah the season opening prime time game of the most popular team in the NFL (Dallas) against a quality opportunity opponent was down over 20% from last season. Good luck getting any of the cop hating, anti America Democrats to admit that though. They are too busy beating up old people and burning down minority owned businesses. How progressive.

The numbers that say it was 20% down hasn't included the west coast viewers yet and the Rams are a west coast team. The numbers will change when they all come out.

I think the ratings were due to the "Brady" factor with many curious as to how Brady would do post Patriots.

Carlsbad,
Let's use just a small bit of logic here. Basically no fans allowed at games, half the country still on lockdown and their ratings still sucked. Maybe that one game did well but they ALL should of been great.
NFL may not go away but the days of these huge contracts are almost over.

Agree with the common sense of this...
Sep 14, 2020, 7:41 PM
|
|
...you would think that EVERY game would have huge ratings given that sports fans are starved for, well, sports. But it didn't happen this past weekend with the NFL (except for the Brady game). Every article I can find shows ratings declined, with many being described as massive or huge declines year over year. Including last night's Sunday Night Football featuring the always big drawing Cowboys.

Carlsbad has been living under a rock apparently. "The NFL is killing" ! Yeah, their own sport. When are they going to play the Mexican National anthem, Canadian, Great Britain, Italian, or Samoan ? Viewership is way down and will continue. Quit believing that crap you have been hearing on ESPN.

Sunday was all day HW. Never got back into until a couple years ago bc my kids love it. There have been some great games the past few years every week. NFL has managed to keep teams even more than most sports despite NE pulling out SB miracles. All that said, I can't stand the super bowl. Way too many people who don't watch football in the way.

It want last the nfl is losing its appeal to many fans. What percentage of fans can the nfl lose before the owners and players start to feel the financial pinch?? IMO soon I hope! I have no interest in watching nfl, nba, mlb except an occasional Braves game. I have watch 2 games this year.
I just have no interest in overpaid entitled athletes.

I'm not sure why your so excited about the ratings. Is Fox and publicity traded company and you have stock?
I could care less if everyone in America watched the game, doesn't affect me and my decision.
Honestly I believe NFL product has worsened over the last 10 years. And combine with with the support of Socialism, i just have no interest in it.
As long as there is Fantasy Football and gambling, the NFL will be fine. Take either one away, and you would be shocked at how uninterested many are of the league

I enjoyed the game. I’m simply glad we have football period right now.
Life’s complex. I can enjoy football, watch it, yet disagree with some of what/how players may express themselves, but not to the point of turning my back or canceling it or them, especially not them.
Anyway, GO Steelers!—

reporters explored the player protest movement; the unity & virtue the players expouse by taking a stand against injustice. And let's not forget the college players heroes in their own right for using their voice to fight for change; truly heart warming. Vomit worthy drivel. Puppets, gullible & eager to please; their stupidity sad, if not embarrassing, when you consider how misguided and baseless their symbolic jestures truly are. Seeded by a false premise, then drowning the public w/ their creation, this message of pure fiction. Though not as sad as the millions of ave citizens, who have bought into this absurd fabrication.

You seem to take issue with someone standing on their principles, unless it's BLM or when it doesn't align with yours. I would never try to convince someone one way or the other. I do what I do out of personal conviction. How does someone's decision to not watch the NFL affect you to the point you felt it necessary to lash out at them?

You said one thing that’s true, Americans love football. So as you see by the decline in interest the people love their Country more . By the end of the season this will be lowest viewed NFL season ever. Then next year lower than this year , repeat and rinse.
